Sorry if this has already been discussed, don't want to beat a dead horse. Tried the search, but was not current. Is segmenting stay hard to? Trip is within 2 weeks. Would like to know if it is possible to do Deluxe and regular in same week stay or the best way to handle. Thanks

Segmenting is no longer allowed. DVC stopped it a month or two ago.

It isn't possible to segment your stay to add the dining plan, you must have the same plan for your whole reservation now. We would have liked to add the dining plan for our first few days as we will not have a hire car but it isn't possible to do that any more :confused3

The only way to segment is to move to a different lodging - different size, different resort.

I don't think you need to change resorts. We are staying one night in a studio and the rest of the week in a one bedroom, same resort. I was allowed to do DDP for the one night in the studio. I just had them make it into two different reservations. Don't like spending extra points for a sat. travel day...and got real tired of doing value resort for one night. So now opt for a standard view studio and then switch up. Win..win.

One certainly has to move to a different reservation and technically what has been stated on this thread is correct. However, I believe it's possible to stay in the same resort and unit size if one knows how to do so but you would have to check in again and you might have to change rooms.

Your information is correct. This is how we used the DDP before segmenting and how we use it now.

The down side is that the DDP isn't the value that it once was and it gets worse next year.

Counter service is a reasonable value if you do it for one day since you get a mug & Deluxe DDP is the only exceptional value if you do it for one or 2 days (and use it over 2 or 3 days respectively) since you get a mug and you can do all 3 or 6 meals as lunch, dinner or character and you get an appetizer.
Yes it is possible to still have multiple reservations (from different member numbers) and just note that they are continuing reservations. The resorts have no interest in moving you, but you do have to "check in" for each new reservation.

I have pretty much give up on most table service dining plans and will just get TIW since it is much more flexible.
