Does anyone have any advice in booking a meal plans for dvc resort room. The situation is that my family goes to disney every summer and books a dvc 2 bedroom condo. My sister and her kids stay 10 days and love the meal plan but Im usually only able to go 5 days. Disney in the past says that the meal plan has to be booked for everyone in the 2 bedroom villa for the 10 days. This always puts a lot of stress on my family since we all go for a different amounts of time. Has anyone had any luck with disney splitting the meal plan and allowing for everyone just to pay the amount of days they are there? any advice would be appreciated since this is my biggest complaint about being a dvc member and made me not join the family on vacation last year.

Yes and no.

You can now segment your trip so that you can all have the dining plan some days, and no one has it on other days. The credits are good only on the days you have segmented with a dining plan -- they don't extend over your entire vacation dates.

But you can never have a time where some people in the room have it and some do not.

The DDP is not a DVC controlled option, it is controlled by Disney Parks & Resorts, and was originally designed as park of a cash vacation package...thus the all or nothing rule.

In fact, for the first several months of the DDP, DVC members could not add it to a point reservation at all.

DVC has recently been allowed to segment reservations, and attach the DDP to individual segments, but as Vicki said, everyone in the room must still be on the same plan for that segment.

It sounds like you're saying you have a situation where you might have 3 people in the room for 5 days and 2 people in the room for the other 5 days. Not sure how they would handle the segmenting in that situation - it wouldn't hurt to call and ask. But it sounds like what you're suggesting is within the spirit of "everybody in the room is on the plan together" - just some days there are more people in the room than other days.
