Can you get the dining plan for just the adults in your group? or does it have to be for everyone?

There is no way my kids would eat their money's worth on the dining plan. As it is they can usually share one kids meal between them all they are such dainty eaters and they would much rather eat peanut butter sandwiches :rolleyes1. Would it be possible for just DH and I to get the dining package and then pay for the kids OOP?

No, everyone in the room must be on the same DDP, but the kids DDP is really cheap. It's only like $11.99/day and of course includes a CS meal, a TS meal, and a snack. It'd be difficult to feed a child all day for that. However, I just noticed one of your kids is ten years old. Don't forget that he counts as an adult in Disney's eyes, so you'd have to pay for the adult plan for him, not the kids (as well as buy him an adult park ticket).

Except one of the kids is a Disney adult, so not that cheap.

However, it is all or nothing - everyone in the room needs to be on the same plan.

How about making a MYW package for you and your husband and buying the kids tickets separately? You can have up to 4 people in a room anyway. I think it's unfair for Disney to force you to pay for food that your children won't eat.

Or, just get a room only discount and pay for everyone's meals OOP. It would be cheaper than paying rack rate and buying 4 DDP's when you only need 2.

You can't do this as the PP mentioned. Everyone in the room has to be on the same package - tickets & dining plan.

.

Except then the kids wouldn't be on their pkg, so they wouldn't be able to use Magic Express, nor would they be able to use extra magic hours.

hmm I am going to have to calculate it out a bit and see if it's better to just pay oop. Thanks everyone!

If you get the dining plan (1 snack, 1 CS and 1TS) I think that it pays for itself. When my 16yo son and last visited our TS alone was around $60 to $75 so getting the plan makes sense and it that means that when you get there everything is already paid.

When are you going? Can you go during Free Dining? As long as you check in on a Free Dining day, you get the DP for the entire stay (up to 14 nights).

Usually the children's plan pays for it's self as the kids get: one snack (up to $4), one CS ($5) and one TS ($7-13) per night. Depends where you eat but the TS buffets/family style are more expensive for kids than the other TS restaurants. The kid's CS meals are on the small side-mini pizza, 4 chicken nuggets, etc.
