Hi could anyone answer a question about the dining plan...if I am staying in the room with my daughter and family and we are on dining plan do we all have to eat together. Is there only one card with the credits on it. This is so confusing. Also does anyone know where to get an up to date list 2007on the places you can use the credit....I seem to see different lists . Thank you Carol

No, you do not have to eat together. All the credits will be available on all room keys.

Thank you so much. I figured it must work like that but I just wasn't sure since I have not used it. When we go with them if we are in the room we all have to get the plan so I was looking for info. I quess when you use your room key it just deducts of the card with all the credits. I will check out the other site you listed . Thank you so much. Carol Oh also might you know if you can use ME just to take you bags to the hotel and use a car for yourself to get there. Thanks again.

I don't think ME will transport bags only for security reasons.

The DDP credits are not "on the card" but are in Disney's computer system, and are accessed by a code on each card. That is what allows all the room cards to access all the credits and keep a running tally of use.

Entire length of reservation for everyone in the room. It is the same dining plan offered by CRO, and falls under their rules, with the exception of not having to purchase a park ticket directly from Disney to be eligible for the plan.

Do DVC members get a discount on the food plan? or do we get a discount as an AP holder? Or is there no discount at all??

There is not a discount on the dining plan for DVC. If you have an AP (DVC or not), you can purchase the Disney Dining Experience card which provides discounts for meals and beverages, including alcoholic beverages. It's been a while since I looked, but I think the dining experience card is something like $60, but I may be wrong.

Yes, you will be able to use his credits.

My family has done the Dining Plan several times.
For counter service meals, the cast member never even sees my entire family. I usually find a table & sit down with the kids while DH goes to the counter & orders everything.

Yes, it is true that you can have one family member order all the food. However, there are big changes to the dining plan as of Jan 1. Dining CM's on the DDP board have reported that as of Jan 1, Adults and Child credits are seperate. They have to use seperate keys to ring in a child meal vs an adult meal. Your receipt will break down how many adult ts, child ts, adult cs, child cs credits you have remaining. According the the CM's it is absolutely impossible for a family of 2A/2C to sit down with Aunt Sally at Kona and use 3 Adult TS credits to pay for her meal. You can only order up to what your card says. These CM's have also stated that CMs will get in serious trouble for trying to fudge the plan, if that's even possible. Disney apparently does not want people "sharing" credits with people who didn't pay for the DDP. The don't want people using child credits for adult meals. As of Jan 1, they have the software in place to prevent it.

These particular CM's work at TS retaurants, but say the seperation is there for cs credits as well. So, a family of 2A/2C can no longer send up DH to get 3 adult CS meals for the family to share. He can only order 2A CS and 2C CS meals at a time. Some people on the dining plan board are upset about no longer being able to get their kids adult CS meals. Others are upet about not being able to treat visiting family members, not on the DDP, to dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. Still others think it's about time Disney stopped people from abusing the dining plan. It's all very interesting.

I really had no idea that abuses were this widespread. I didn't realize how many people were paying cash for their kids TS so they could use those credits for other adult meals. Either for themselves at signature places or for freinds/family. I did know that lots of people were getting adult CS for their kids, either by splitting up, or the CM's just allowing people to order all adult meals. In fact, in October I ordered adult CS for my DD in MK twice (she wanted a cheeseburger and no place in the MK has a kids cheeseburger on the menu) and told the CMs I would pay cash for her burger. They told me to forget it and swiped my DDP card. Now, I had intented to pay, I even had cash in my hand, but I wasn't going to stand there and demand to pay. Now, on our next trip my DD will have child CS credits so, she'll either have to eat the uncrustable w/sugar free jello or I'll be buying her the cheeseburger! Hmm...unhappy 5 year old or $7 for a cheeseburger...wonder which one I'll choose.


As to the poster who asked if she can use her husband's credits, yes you can. The DDP will just give you a total number of adult credits, either one of you can use them.

Adults are $38.99 per adult, per night or the ressie. Children 9 and under are $10.99. All people in the room must be on the plan for all nights of their reservation.

Definitely check in to the Disney Dining Experience card too. We've had one for two years now and there is a discount for AP holders. We go several times a year including a one week trip with 7 people so we pay for the card in just a few meals. The cool thing is that it is better than what CMs get. We went for F&W last year and met some family that has an Uncle on the other side of the fmily that works there. He was able to get better discounts in stores than I was with the perks but the Dining Experience card was better than he go tbecause of the beverage inclusion. 10 people at Ohanas with a 20% discount is pretty significant and getting a better one than a CM makes you feel REAL good too!!!

My scenerio is my parents are DVC members and they made the reservation for my family (dh, me, dd, dd, dd) my brothers family (db, dsil, dn, dn, dn) and them. There are 7 that want the plan and my bro doesn't.

So there is 12 people, one reservation, one bedroom and a two bedroom...

Do all we need to be on the dining plan

Are the two rooms on the same reservation number? Everytime I've booked more than one room they have been different reservation numbers. In theory, either everyone in the one bedroom unit would have to be on the plan, or everyone in the two bedroom unit would have to be on the plan...but both rooms should not have to be on the plan.

Have your parents check the DVC member website to see how the room reservations are listed.

Be careful that you understand the answers to this question. When you buy the DDP, you will have to buy it for everyone on your reservation for the entire length of their stay. Your cards will indicate how many people in each category are on the dining plan, for example 2A/3C for two adults and three children.

You can use his credits, but only up to the maximum of adults on the plan. So you'd be able to get two adult meals at a sitting, in the example I gave above. You would not be able to treat someone not on the plan.

If he's not going to be eating with you much, you might want to consider using his unused credits for Signature Dining or other 2 credit events, but you would not be able to invite Uncle Wally and Aunt Gertrude over from the rest home for a nice meal.

Treating folks not on the plan is one of the abuses the new system is designed to stop.

Separate rooms are always separate reservations. You can get it for one or the other if you want and all in the appropriate unit. Just realize it must be added to the unit that needs it and that technically no changes can be made at check in for either unit in either way though I now there have been exceptions.
