I can't decide if we should do the plan or not- it's me, and 2 kids, 13 and 11- 11 yo is VERY picky and if he doesn't see anything on menu- he won't order-

Our choices so far are-
Monday- Espn club- dinner
Tuesday- Animal Kingdom- Breakfast- Donalds' - counter service- lunch dinner- Hollywood& Vine Fantasmic dining pkg
Wednesday- Magic Kingdom- lunch- The Plaza- dinner- Ohana's
Thursday-daytime- Blizzard Beach- dinner -Sci- Fi
Friday- Lunch-? dinner- teppanyaki's
Satuday- not sure- last day

I can't decide if it's worth it- i am always watching my weight so i don't like to order dessert or appetizers every night- I guess I should go thru and see what we'd maybe spend each day then add up 38.99x 3 and see- any thoughts? Also, does it start on 1st full day- we arrive on Monday at noon

Sometimes, children will eventually find something they like, once they get hungry. :lmao:

Seriously, it may or may not make financial sense, if you really could get away without ordering anything for your DS11 all week. However, if you're going to end up ordering for him anyway, then the Dining Plan will be to your benefit. I wouldn't worry about the value of appetizers and dessert. I've done the math a dozen times (for different people) recently, and each time I figure how much it would cost if they just ordered entrees and drinks (no appetizers and no dessert) versus the cost of the Dining Plan, and the Dining Plan always wins. You'd really have to choose a lot of low-priced TS meals for it to not work out in your favor.

When my son and I (he's 14) used the plan last year, we didn't always order everything that was included. We only ordered what we knew we could eat. We skipped many desserts and appetizers. Even by doing this, we still came out ahead by using the dining plan.

We'll be using it again during our next two trips. :woohoo:

My DS is the chicken finger champ of the world. Very picky. At home he doesn't get away with it much but at Disney... I think every restaurant we've ever eaten at had chicken fingers -- Thank God! I don't know what he'd have eaten if they didn't. For one week it didn't hurt him.

I'd say go with the dining plan. Chicken fingers & a drink twice a day costs more than what you pay for a child.

Plus, the price includes your tip!! So you'll save even more money!

Her son is 11, so she'll pay regular price for him, not the discounted price for young children.

thanks for the replies but I don't think it makes sense if he doesn't order- he is VERY pICKY- I'm going to try the math and see - I'm not really worried about $100 difference - now if it's like $500 or so I'd be more worried!!

Yes, definitely compare how much you'd pay without the plan versus what you'd pay with the plan. Be prepared for sticker-shock though.
