Dining Plan with seperate reservations

In May we have a stay at BCV that includes a few night on our own points and a few nights on a friends points. I want to know what my options are for adding the dining plan. Can I add Deluxe on my points and regular on theirs? Would that cause me to have to check in everytime there is a dining change?

If I did regular dining the entire time would I need to check out and back in when it switched over to my reservation?

My understanding is you can only change your Dining Plan when you move rooms/resorts.

You could do it if the reservations were not linked. One in your name, checkout, check back in on their name.

It used to be if the reservations were linked you did not have to check out and back in but recent reports are that you do have to get new keys but keep the same room.

Plus there's a good chance you'd have to change villas.
