is it possible to get the dining plan with a room only reservation? I always thought you needed to buy at least 2 day tickets. I have a room only booked for next June and i called to ask of few other questions and for the heck of it, i asked about adding the dining plan. She said we could do that, $62 a day for adults and $21 for kids. Have they recently changed the rules or did the CM make a mistake?

thanks

Yes, it's called a "ticketless" package and it's been available for about a year now, but can only be booked over the phone.

As supersnoop said, it is a ticketless PACKAGE and will follow all the rules of a package ($200 deposit, final payment 30 days before arrival day next June, change fees and cancellation penalties if made within 30 days of arrival). Your room only reservation will be cancelled, the deposit refunded and a new package reservation will need to be made.

As the pp's said, a ticketless package is available by calling, but it's not as simple as just adding the DDP to a RO reservation. As purple figment posted, the RO will have to be cancelled/refunded and a ticketless package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other.

I'm glad you posted this question. It got me thinking about getting the DDP added to our RO reservation. I phoned Disney to ask the specific prices for our ADRs and I added up the numbers. A RO with DDP was only $50 more and I had not even factored in counter service and snacks yet!

I'm happy!

Technically it is not possible to add a dining plan to a room only reservation - that reservation would have to become a package, be it a ticketless package or a package with tickets. As noted, that means a new reservation has to be made (and a new deposit - they can't just transfer over the RO deposit to a package).

This is important if the guest is booking the room-only reservation to get the more lenient payment and cancellation policies. Because as soon as you change the reservation to add a dining plan, that reservation is now a package and is under package payment, change and cancellation rules. If you are making the change within 45 days of arrival, you'll need to pay the balance when the change is made.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I didn't have any problems. The CM told me you only had to have a room reservation...didn't say anything about tickets. We're going & using some old non-expiring tickets. I even phoned twice...once to find out if it was possible & get a quote...then a second call to actually book once I ran the numbers vs dining OOP for our reservations.

Have a great Magical day!

It's entirely possible to book a ticketless package if you call. But it should be noted that the reservation is a package - not a room-only reservation. So if you already have a room-only reservation, they are changing it to a package. They should give you the new payment terms and cancellation policy at the time you book.

Room only reservations require a one night deposit with the balance due at check-in and cancellation without penalty up to 5 days before check-in. Packages require a $200 deposit with the balance due 45 days from arrival. Cancellation and changes after the 45 day mark carry penalties. So the terms are quite different.

So say I book a trip October 11-16th ticketless package, with ddp,I get my tickets trough work($372 for a 7 day ph ticket) can I still change my package to a different resort(pay the difference)? I would in a sense save 200 doing it this way..

Yes you can change resorts. If you are within 45 days and your balance decreases when you change resorts, you would likely be charged the $50 change fee. They generally waive it when the change made results in a higher balance. although I'm not sure what the incentive is for not just booking the resort you want outright.
