This will be my first time going to WDW with very young children. I'm taking 2 of my nieces and their families. There will be a total of 5 adults, 2 children (3 & 4) and 3 infants (2 y/o, and 2 under 1).

My question is about the 2 y/o. I know it says there is no charge for those under 3, as long as they eat off the parent's plate. How does that work at the buffets? We're going to be doing several character meals, so wasn't sure if they would give the 2 y/o a small plate to put food on or if he literally has to eat off his parents' plate.

Thanks!

Most reports here state that you will be allowed to fix the toddler a separate plate at buffets.

At a la carte places, he will have to either eat off the parents' plate, or purchase a meal for him.

And even most a la carte places will give you a clean plate upon which to put some food for him.

I'm sorry you may not have meant it but I found this image endearingly funny :) No worries, you can get the 2 yr old, and the infants for that matter, their own plates, even big ones :)

We have brought our daughter to many character breakfast buffets while she was under 3 and never once had an issue with making her her own plate.

I hate the 3 cut off though (yes I understand all kids are different) but the cost for my 3 year old is exponentially larger this year and her habits have not changed. I get the cut off has to be somewhere and I essentially got 3 years for free but this first "of age" trip planning had me cringing lol.

Just to be clear; dining with an infant is the same whether you have the dining plan or not. The dining plan doesn't come with any extra benefits or restrictions for infants.
