Dining Plan vs. Epcot Food & Wine

Just thinking ahead for next year but is it necessary to have the dining plan (more so QS) during the Food & Wine event? Hoping to go next year with my sister, we've never been. I usually get the QS plan on any other trip, (except for last year when I had free TS dining. ). Are items valid with the dining plan or are all separately priced?

Snack credits only. 1 snack credit per single item, alcoholic beverages excluded. The kiosks do not accept QS credits. Dining credits are also not accepted for any of the Festival special events, seminars or demonstrations.

This was our first year for food and wine. We had the free ddp, and used the snack credits for about 15 different items. DH would pay oop if a food & Wine item was under $3. Best buy for our snack credit? The seafood shepherd's pie $7.50, and plenty big enough to share!!
