Dining plan questions

Okay so I have the dining plan that gives me 1 TS 1 QS and 1 snack for each night of my stay.

When using snacks, can I get anything that's listed under snacks at the carts throughout the parks?

When using a QS do I ask the cashier to charge my meal as a QS?

When using a TS do I let my waiter know that I'll be using a TS before I order?

Sorry if these are dumb questions.

Don't worry, they will ask at TS and QS if you are on a plan. If they don't, yes, just tell them. Also at snack carts. Have an idea of what snacks will give you the best value before you go and try to use them on the more expensive stuff or you may not get value from the DDP.

I feel it is too much food, I ended up not snacking and then had all these credits at the end I just used on candy bars and other things that I didn't need just to use them up.

That should be discussed when you book since DDP can only be used for cat 2 & 3 seating at HDDR and costs 2 credits each. Also, don't forget they will still come with a bill to pay a gratuity at each TS place and charge your plan.

No HDDR is a pre-paid dining event. You will need to either tell them when you book it to charge your dining plan account, or you will have to pay in full with a credit card when you book. If you pay with a credit card, you will have to get your account credited at the time of the show.

You don't actually charge anything to your dining plan account when you book - you don't even HAVE a dining plan account until the day you check into your resort. What they will do is waive the prepayment requirement for HDDR (you will still have to give a credit card number for a guarantee) if you are on a dining plan (you have to have the plan on your room reservation at the time you book, so they know that you are planning to pay with the dining plan). When you are onsite, you will pick up your tickets to go to HDDR. Your dining credits will be subtracted from your account at the time you pick the tickets up. (At this point if you have decided you do not want to pay using the dining plan, you can say so and then use another method of payment at the ticket pickup).

Also, for dinner shows like HDDR the gratuity is included in the price of the event (this also applies when you pay with dining credits).

Just a thought, but you might want to consider paying for HDDR out of pocket. It means that you'll have more options for better show times, and you'll free up two TS credits for something else. We did this and it worked out great for us.
