Dining Plan question

We have 2 DVC reservations. 11/29 BLT LV studio is 1 night we added to our trip (cheaper flight than leaving Sat.). The second reservation is 11/30 to 12/7 2BR BLT LV. Another family will be joining us.

Can we get a dining plan just for the first reservation of only 1 night? Last time we went we could do split stay (without) moving rooms just so we can get partial dining plan (just had to go to front desk to get new room keys). This time it's not a split stay its a completely different reservation.

It was 7/2011 since we've been to Disney - my eldest son was only 2 and on this trip he will be 5. Our second son's first time and he is 1 yr old. And it's our first time in our home resort! Yay!

If the reservations are completely separate, I don't see why you couldn't do that.

The credits will expire, if you haven't used them all, by the end of that first reservation. However, you should be able to get the DDP for that one reservation by itself. I'm by no means an expert so hopefully some others will chime in. LOL

Actually the DDP credits expire at midnight of the day you check out. So you will really have two days to use your credits.

We actually did exactly this on our last trip. So I can say with great certainty, yes you can. DanLo is also absolutely correct. Your credits do expire at midnight the day you check out.

Just be sure to hang out to the KTTW card from the studio reservation until you have used all of the DDP credits the day you check into the 2 BR.

!

Since you are moving rooms you can do get the DDP for only 1 reservation. They no longer allow the split stays where you can get the DDP for some nights but stay in the same room. You have to be moving rooms in order to get the DDP for only part of your stay but since you will be moving you are good for only having it on that section.

Wow....I didn't know that. I thought they now linked the reservations (even if you are moving rooms/resorts) and you had to take the dining plan for the entire vacation. Good to know! :)

They could do it this way but they haven't so far. This was exactly the situation technically with the Food n Fun (at least part of the time) in that a continuous stay at a single resort was considered one stay even if different rooms types, changing rooms, etc (at least that's my recollection of the fine print). I don't know how well they enforced it, I know they didn't on many occasions but I'm not sure how often they did, if ever.
