We have a 2 BR BCV booked for 3 nts. - However, the middle night is a regular 2 BR and the other nts. are booked in a 2BR w/ 2 queen beds (different category rooms - although same amount of points). My question is this: with 3 different reservation #s , can I buy the Deluxe Dining Plan for just one of the nights? (I know everyone on our reservation has to buy the same plan) I've done the math and we would actually make out better - it might make the hassle of switching rooms each night a little more tolerable.

Since each night is a different room category, you could get a dining plan on just one of those nights if you wish. You also could do a different dining plan on each night if you wanted to mix it up a bit.

If you look at your reservation on-line does it show one reservation for three nights or several reservations linked together ? This would be the easiest way to determine if your particular scenario of the one night DDP booking is possible. We did something similar recently - however our single night was an entirely different resort & room size so that aspect diverges from your example. It was fun to do the one night DDP. We has Narcoossee's one evening and Sanaa the next. Since the DDP for the one night was about $170 for the two of us and the dinner at Narcoossee's was about $200 by itself I think we did OK ! ;)

They have 3 separate reservations and since they are in different categories for each night. They'll also have to move automatically two times if they don't change that setup. Your statement about the dining plan reflects 2 issues. One is that it's a specialty option that works for a small subset of guests (paid for at least) and the best situations are when you plan high end options, shorter stays and with kids in the 3-9 ages It also helps when you have multiple rooms and can structure who gets the DP and who doesn't according. The other is whether you would have made the same choices on your Narcoossee's reservation had you been paying cash or wished you could. One point I often make both with DVC and the DP is the difference in savings vs value and what's real and what's artificial. For example, using rack rates for DVC creates an artificial sense of savings as does ordering the most expensive options if you would not have done so anyway OR wished you could. The DP can also be the driving force for your stay so that's a problem for many.
