Dining plan question?

We are going for 9 nights in December. I have a question...can I just get the dining plan for 6 nights. We also have a DDE card and I just don't think we would use all those counter service meals. We like to get at TS restaurants but I like the cost of the DDP. If I can get it for 6 nights, then do they have to be used from a certain day to a certain day or could I extend the counter service meals over 9 days? Does this make sense?

You have to have the ddp for the same number of nights as your reservation for the same number of people assigned to your room. The only way to "get around" it is by having a split reservation. The first one for 6 nights as a package. Then the second one as a room only reservation. You could get the longer ticket with the first package.

We are DVC members and have a split stay. 4 nights at OKW with the dining plan, then 5 nights at BCV without the plan and will be using our DDE card. That way we get the best of both worlds. You just have to use a little strategy.

Thank you! We are DVC members too. We are staying at SSR for 9 nights but I am going to try to change to BCV or BWV for the first three nights. I have to wait to the seven month window to do that though. If I do change, then I will get the DDP plan for the longer stay. I was wondering if that was possible. Thanks for your response!

The way I understand it, if you did split your stay, your DDP credits would only be good until midnight on the day of checkout on the 1st stay. For example, if your 6 days with DDP ended on Tuesday, you would only have til midnight on Tuesday to use all of your DDP credits or you would lose them. You would not be able to save the credits for the other 3 day res.

2Monkeys is correct. A 6 day dining plan cannot be spread out over 9 days. The dining plan is good from the time you check in on the reservation that is attached to the dining plan to midnight on the day you check out on that reservation.
