I was just reading that the price of the dining plan has gone up. But I also read that it was still the same price with DVC reservations. I am renting points for a weekend trip in June. Does anyone know what the price of the regular dining plan will be?

My DVC book does not have an old pricing. It came with the new increased price. Please let me know if you book it and how much it is.

I believe that the 2010 price for the dining plan is $42 for adults and $12 for kids, but if you are a DVC member and are going during a peak period, you will not have to pay the holiday surcharges. :thumbsup2

Yes, as long as the reservation was made using points rather than cash there is no dining plan surcharge for busy times of the year.

Just thought I'd post a follow up to this older thread, because I learned something interesting that doesn't seem to be worthy of its own thread.

We have a reservation this summer for a peak period that is a linked reservation using both points and cash. We are paying the non-peak rate for the entire stay, jut as an FYI.

If you made the reservation through member services it will be the non peak price, even if your entire stay is on cash- if it is using membership services than there is no surcharge. If you had cash through CRO then you would not be able to link the reservation or get the dining plan without buying tickets or having APs and you would be charged whatever rate is for the time you are staying (peak or nonpeak).

Cash rentals through MS are technically a points stay.

Which dining plan is $42 adult & $12 child, QS or TS?

Also, if we don't check in until after 6:00 pm does that count as a whole day on the dining plan, or will it begin the next morning?

It is based on the nights you are staying- it doesn't matter what time you arrive or leave just the number of nights in your stay.

As noted it is based on the number of nights so if you arrive a 1 AM and depart at 5 AM on the last day of a 7 night stay, you still have to pay for 7 nights. Some stay off property before and or after for this very reason.

I don't really understand what that means. You mean in the sense of how DVC and CRO have to internally account for the reservation or something?

From our perspective it's not a points reservation in any sense, is it?

There are 2 places for members to rent DVC rooms for cash, CRO and MS. CRO rooms come with daily housekeeping and anyone can reserve them DVC member or not. The DVC inventory comes from a variety of sources within DVD and DVC. These stays cannot be linked to a DVC points reservation. DVC MS on the other hand only rents inventory that comes from DVC members in one way or another. These reservations do not come with daily housekeeping and are counted as a points reservation within the system. Thus they count for the number of days related to housekeeping requirements and for DDP requirements if linked to an existing reservation. They are in many ways essentially like renting extra points from DVC and then using them to make a reservation.

I guess we will just check in and head to ADR at Chef Mickey's and grab a snack on the way back. Can we save the QS for another day, like maybe a quick breakfast at MK Bakery?:wizard:

Your dining plan credits are based on the number of nights your are staying. 6 nights means you have 6 snacks, 6 counter service meals, and 6 table service meals. You can use them any time you would like and it is deducted from the total meals you have. Just make sure to keep track of how many you have used.

Now, do you suggest the TS dining plan or the QS. We do have some ADR's already booked. Anyone know the price of the QS dining plan?

I wish they could do a plan where you can choose how many TS you want and customize the plan. HINT...HINT Disney powers that be!
