Dining Plan Payments?

Was just thinking it would be nice to be able to make payments instead of one big lump sum? Anyone else have the same thoughts or feelings. With the economy being the way it is, it's hard to have to pay it all at once. Maybe it could be brought up at some of the meetings? Just thinking!

I think that would be a lovely idea - and encourage me to say yes to the Dining Plan.

Why not just set aside a little each day/week/month until you have enough ready to make that lump payment when you add the dining plan a couple of days before you arrive.

Then I wouldn't be tempted to spend it and Disney would have it, not me! Lol!

Buy Disney gift cards every month until you reach the required total. That way you won;t be as tempted to spend it, and it would be the same as making payments. I really don't see Member Services wanting to deal with this, nor Disney Resorts division, since they are the ones that actually control the plans and make them available to DVC via an agreement.

I guess this would work for some, but it kind of reminds me of the tax thread that was going around the other day. I prefer to hold on to my $ as long as possible and not give it to Disney until the very end.

The administrative costs would probably have to be passed to member dues. Personally, I don't want to pay higher dues for people who can't save their money. The gift card idea is good.

Since the DDP is one of the worst ideas ever.. this doesn't improve it. (Yes, I can eat cheaper without it and NO we don't need desert at EVERY meal LOL!)

Yes, you CAN eat cheaper without it, but we find we eat better and healthier food with it. If we don't have the dinning plan, we tend to eat as cheaply as possible, which usually means hamburgers and hot dogs.

Even if we don't count desserts at every meal, we always save money with the dinning plan.

I just wish they still included tip or at least an option to pay a little extra to have it included. It would make the dinning plan even more convenient.
