Hi there... I am renting DVC points for our stay in December, and I was thinking of purchasing park tickets from an outside vendor (undercovertourist, mapelaftickets, etc) because I can get them cheaper. But my question is, Do I have to purchase at least 1 park ticket directly from Disney to get on the meal plan? I know that if you book a regular package deal you have to have at least 1 day of park tickets to be eligble for the dining plan, but I didn't know if that was the case for DVC members as well. I know that the person I am renting from has added the dining plan onto my reservation.

Thanks!

No, a ticket purchase through Disney is not required for the DVC version of the DDP. You may purchase your tickets anywhere you wish.

Remember that the DDP no longer includes appetizer or server gratuity this year.

Perfect... that is what I was hoping you would say... Thanks!!!

True HOWEVER... You MUST have the owner you are renting from arrange the dining plan for you ahead of your stay (can't do it at check in), and you must pay for it at the time you check in.

How much cheaper? Just curious.......

These are the numbers I came up with today... Based off of purchasing 4 Park Hopper Tickets - that is for 2 adults and 1 child - so while it isn't that much cheaper... a savings is a savings...

$787.92 Disney.com 4 Park Hoppers (Tax NOT included)
$756.85 Undercovertourist.com 4 Park Hoppers with 2 Free Days (Tax & Shipping Included)
$764.95 Mapleleaftickets.com 4 Park Hoppers with 1 Free Day (Tax & Shipping Included)
$755.00 Ticketmania.com 4 Park Hoppers with 2 Free Days (Tax & Shipping Included)

Yes, I knew they had to add it...and I got a copy of the reservation and it says that the DDP has been added... Thanks for the reminder...

How many days are those 4?

We get 10 day non expire hoppers. The upfront cost is quite a bit, but they last us for 2 trips. We go for 6 days at a time, but only go to parks 5 of those days. I should look into season passes and stagger the trips so that one years pass would work for 2 trips 11 1/2 mths apart.
