We are headed down in April and are trying to decide whether we should do the dining plan. We always have in the past but are debating for this trip. We have AP's so are curious about the tables in Wonderland. We have ressies at Ohana, Boma, Le Cellier, The Wave and a few others. Not sure if the DP is the smater way to go given the $$$$ of the restaurants we are going to. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. thanks!!!

I'd think the decision is based on how, and how frequently, you like to dine in sit-down restaurants. As you probably know, TIW gives you a 20% discount at nearly all sit-down restaurants. That's off the total bill, including any alcohol you order. Basically, if you are planning on spending more that $375 on table service food during your visit (which is sounds like you will) then TIW will pay off for you.

We sat down with menus of the places we are going to dine and decided what we are likely to order, including beverages, and it turned out that TIW is a better deal for our family than DDP. We are a party of 4, and we aren't likely to order giant soft drinks x 4 at all of our meals, nor are we going to order 8 desserts per day. On the other hand, we probably will choose appetizers and wine or cocktails at our TS meals, which we would have to pay for OOP anyway.

Best thing is to do the math and figure out what suits YOUR family best. It's a tedious exercise, but can be very enlightening!

This is exactly why we are switching over to TIW for our upcoming trip - we did the math based on what where we would eat and what we would choose to order. Our choices are very similar to what iloveeeyore describes. So I agree it's best to sit down with the menus and do the math - then you'll know you're getting the best deal for your family!

I agree with both here. It is best to work out which suits your family best :thumbsup2 I did that, as long a task as it was and others thinking I'm crazy sitting down and looking at restaurant menus to see what we would eat :rotfl: And TIW will be a much better deal for us, also adding to the equasion for us is that DS will be 10 and will want to eat off the kids menu much of the time, so its a much better saving for us to have TIW.

We much prefer the TIW, not because it's a better deal financially, but because it allows us the flexibility to order what we want.

We will be using both for our trip in March and agian in Dec. The DDP for us is just having our meals pre paid. We will more then likely pay OOP for one meal and if we decide to share an app or have an drink thats not covered the TIW card allows us to get a discount on that. We always end up saving some $$ with the DDP and adding the TIW card can help us save some more. Since I know we will be using it at CRT for dinner for 5 it is close to paying for itself that one meal. But its all about personal preferences.
