Dining plan numbers

Please explain how the dining plan is a good option even if you do character meal buffets. We do not drink pop and I have one child aged 4 and two under 2. I am planning one ts buffet/ character meal each night and one signature dinner, but the prices do not add up to the 51.00. Am I missing something?

Well you are also getting a counter service meal and snacks for that $51, in addition to your table service meal. At prices like $36 for character meals (just a ballpark) + a counter service meal + snacks, you should at least break even I think.

For the child's price, you will definitely come out ahead with a character meal or buffet as the price for those alone cost more than the child's price of the dining plan. So the rest of their food for the day is free.

But the bottom line is - you have to crunch the numbers for yourself and see if it makes sense for you.

Most of the character meals are now around $40. Remember you also get a CS meal per day, per person.
If you skip pop and dessert at the CS meal -- it will range from $7-11 per adult.
Throw in a $3-4 snack, and you have at least broken even. If you throw in a CS dessert, you have saved a few dollars, per adut, per night. Not a huge savings, but a savings.
The numbers work great for the 4 yo. The plan is about $15. Kids dinner at Chef Mickey is $19. Throw in $6 CS kids meal and $3 snack. And the child has saved $13.

I'm not a big advocate of the ddp. But if you do lots of character dinners, and you have kids, it starts to turn into real savings.
