Dining plan - is it worth it?

We were down at the Movies Resort in February for 3 nights and we purchased all our food - pizza's, quick service, etc, also buying 3 mugs for coffee/soda... I'm unsure if it's worth it for a 5 night stay to get the Dining plan, as you have to purchase at least 1 day of tickets, we already have left over from February ( my daughter was sick for 2 days after we flew) and we didn't get to use all our tickets...

Anyone have any suggestions of whether its worth it, as I have to add it to my reservation.

thanks! :)

DH and I were on the QSDP in June. It saved us about $300, and we didn't even order the most expensive items on the menus. We also got refillable resort mugs with the plan...for just $30 per person per day. The day that we went to DTD we lunched at WPE. Our total for lunch was $45.00, but with the QSDP we only had to leave the tip! :cool1:

I don't know...I've been pretty anti-dining plan since I stay offsite, but I gotta admit, I purchased the meal deal at Busch Gardens this past week, and DH and I ate well for $20! It was nice not worrying about what a meal cost. We shared a lunch and a supper and had plenty of food.

It depends upon which plan you choose and how you would normally eat. For example, if you would normally bring food from home for breakfast, split a counter service lunch, drink ice water and forego dessert, you would probably not be happy with a dining plan.

If on the other hand you have specific places you enjoy going, or that you want to try and don't want to worry about pinching pennies, or whether or not you should order dessert due to cost, than this can be a great thing.

Look at the menus at allears.net and it will give you an idea of whether or not it would be cost effective for your family.

Have a great trip!!:goodvibes

Yes its worth it and I would extend your stay....makes it so much better with a longer trip

I wish I could extend my stay .. but we are driving and Hubbie needs to get back to his job! :-)

If it's the meal plan with 2 quick services and 1 snack, the quick service is a full service, as in burger, drink and dessert? So I could add all those prices up and see if it works for my family then

Thanks

It really does depend on a number of factors.

How many days do you have left on your park passes? Will you need more than those days for the vacation that you have planned? If you're going to need one or two more days, then you'll need to buy more tickets anyway (you can't add more days onto your old tickets now). So why not get them as part of a package? Just something to think about.

Your dining habits should also be considered. My family likes a TS meal at least once per day but others may not like to take so much time away from park touring. The DxDP or DDP would not serve them well. Some people don't care for CS food and would not be happy with the QSDP. Different strokes for different folks.

Another thing to consider is the peace of mind that having your food budget under control brings. With the dining plans, everything is covered except your gratuity at most TS locations. Being able to pre-pay for your meals helps a lot of vacationers relax while they're in WDW. That relaxed feeling has value too but there is no price tag that can be placed on it.
