Dining Plan...Is it worth it?

DW and I have been debating this for months now, To bad it has to be for the total number of nights you stay. We like to venture off site for some meals. Have to have my cheese burger in paradise over at Magaritaville. We also like to drive over to Daytona Beach for a day if the weather is good, pools are fine but nothing beats a day at the beach. Would be nice if you could buy a couple days, but I guess Disney counts on everyone not useing it to the fullest.

If you only do that for a couple of days, it still might not be bad. You could always do a Signature TS and burn up 2 TS credits each one or 2 nights. You could also do a TS for breakfast before heading over to Daytona Beach, or out for that burger. Just some thoughts...

Not sure if it is as cost effectiving doing many Signatures, but might be worth considering and checking out.

I used it for the weekend with my sister and we saved a lot of money. It was worth it for us. If you sit and know what your adr's are and check out the menus see if it ads up for you. We saved $60 for one night's dinner!! (for the 2 of us)

I am going for 5 days in Dec and I have a 6 & 9 yr old and it will be worth it again to get the plan for us. We have breakfast in the room and the plan pays for our lunch and dinner plus snack.

Like I said try adding up one days worth of food and see if it is worth it.

If you do a split stay, can you get the DP for just one piece of it?

I think this is the only way it could work for us because we don't want to eat TS every day. So we could eat in and have lighter meals during one part of our stay, and then move to a different DVC property (which would be fun in itself as we are new to DVC) and do the DP for a couple of days while we were there. Has anyone tried this strategy?

I haven't tried it but it makes sense. I would imagine that as more people start to use the DVC DP creative ways of using the plan will be mentioned. Since the DP is tied to a reservation, it would almost seem as if you could book a ressie for 3 nights, then book a 2nd ressie for 3 nights (even if at the same resort)! The only issue would be that you couldn't stretch the DP over the 6 night period... it would only be available for the days/nights with the 1 ressie.

This type of arrangement would be great for those that were staying 2 weeks and only wanted the DP for 1 of the weeks (then eat the leftovers that pile up in the fridge for the 2nd week!) :rotfl2:

We got a lot by ourselfs and we dine out so it's worth it for us.
