We have already booked our trip for 2 weeks in Jan and we are also have PAP. I was wondering if somebody could fill me in on the Dining Plan. Can we purchase it before we go and if so what are the costs? There will be 3 of us going myself, DH and DD5.

Also if we were to purhase this do we have to do so for our entire trip or can we just book for say 8 days?

Thanks

to have the dining package i beleive you need to purchase park tickets as well !!
the other option is the dde ( disney dining experiance card) this can be pre-purchased and gives you 20% off in disney restaurants

im sure people more knowledgeable than me can give you more advice tho

The Dinning plan is like a pre-paid dinning program, where you and each person you pay for in advance get a snack, a counter service combo and dessert, a table service meal and dessert. I think its 35.99 for adults and 10 something for children 9 and younger. If you do the math you could save $100's over a lengthy stay.

I just re-read your thread and saw you were AP holders, I believe the diining plan its part of the Magic Your Way PAckage, Therefore you must buy separate tickets, and stay at a disney resort. In that case you will have to have to do some homework on your AP savings with out of pocket dinning vs. the total MYW Package. It might be more cost effective to use DDE (20% off), if its just the three of you.

If you decide to bring more people with you especially with kids, I would recommend the MYW dinning plan for them. They pool all of the credits to rooms, then you could share the credits.

For example say 2 adults and 2 kids join your party, you now have 4 credits per day. Now what you do to save on food is for the adults to use the credits and pay for children's meals out of pocket. After you get the plan Disney dosen't care who uses them.

To include dining you have to purchase a MYW package (must buy at least a one day ticket for everyone in your party) plus you pay rack rate. Depending on what resort you are staying at will determine if the dining package is worth it. Since you might save $70 plus per day at a deluxe with an AP rate it might not be worth it. I am an AP holder and got the dining becuase it was offered for free. We were going to stay at WL but decided to just go ahead and stay at ASmo (DD12 loves it there). The AP rate was $59 a night, rack rate is $77 so I was only paying $18 more a night for free dining plus the costs of 3 one day tickets. which is about $195 that we will use next year (probably not renewing Disney APs but start going to USO more, I love their AP renewal price of $99)

If you only want dining for 8 days you will need 2 separate reservations. Since the dining plan is usually for your length of stay. The dining plan will expire the last night of that reservation.
