Dining plan for a one night stay before a cruise?

Can we get the dining plan for a one day stay? If yes, should we bother?

As long as you stay one night onsite, you can.

As to whether you should, I wouldn't. You'll be eating a lot of great food on the cruise, so why spend more money for just one day?

No. There is a two night minimum to book a ticketless package (room and dining plan). You can only get the dining plan for a one night stay if you are a pass holder and book with a pass holder rate. Or DVC.

OP doesn't say they don't have tickets, but even if they don't, I'm pretty sure anyone can get the one-night ticketless package. You can get a one-night with tickets package. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't do the other one too. You have to call to get the ticketless one, but I think you can.

Sorry not OP, but we are passholders and considering the same thing, sort of. Will definitely do one night before cruise with 3 other family members, but DH and I may go by ourselves a few days earlier. If I have a passholder rate booked, can i call in and add a dining plan? I didn't realize that!

Yes you can. It will change your room only reservation to a package reservation and all package rules apply (deposit and paid in full date due and cancellation).

As to whether you should, it comes down to how you plan on using the credits. If you will spend less on dining plan than ala carte, then by all means, go for it (plus you get the mugs as a bonus souvenir). If you're changing your eating habits because of the dining plan, it might not be a great idea, given the amount of food available on the cruise.

As with most dining plan decisions, it comes down to how you use it and what the benefits are for your particular situation.

Since it is only for one night it is easy to decide if the plan is a viable option for you. Look at where you want to eat, check the menus and add it up. None of us can do this for you and we cannot assist if we dont know the restaurants you are thinking about.

IMO the dining plans make sense if your family dining preferences kind of mirror what is included , as well as what is excluded in the plan, and if your choices when you dine tend to extend to the higher priced items. On a longer stay the math exercise is more difficult but I look teh final costs to see if I htink it averages better in favor of a plan or not. On a one night stay the cost is the cost so once you narrow down your restaurants you can easily make that decision.

Personally, for a one night stay just prior to a cruise, I would probably lean towards choosing a club level stay and makeing the most out of my resort, and skipping a meal plan. I love Epcot so I would lean towards the BC, however if I was not at all concerned about the parks, I would book Animal Kingdom Lodge club level.
