Dining plan extras?

can anyone tell me when using the DDP can you pay extra for things that are not available with the plan and still use it?
for example if you order a TS meal can you pay seperately for an alcholic drink?
I'm sorry if someone has previously posted this question but i am new and very confused about about various parts of the DDP.

At the end of your meal, you will receive a seperate receipt for the extra items ordered that are not covered under the DP. Check your receipt carefully as most times an automatic 18% is added for tip.

No problem with adding non-DDP food. Our ds added smoothies a couple of times and my sister had wine each dinner and the cm were very efficient about the extras.
