I have what might be a bit of a odd question-
So we are going in march with the free dining offer, mod hotel so 1&1 meal per day.
My mother and now my father are going be be going with us for part of the time in another room (5 nights)- She is going to there for one less night then we are. My father will be coming for only a few nights due to his work schedule. When I called Disney to add him on to the reservation, they told me the best way to do it would be to simply add him on for the entire reservation and he will just show up latter. So whatwil happen with regards to the meals is is we will have 3 extra cs and ts meals each (he is arriving very late at night so will not be having dinner with us his first night).
Can the rest of us use his meals (mainly the ts meals). Can my mother just put down her card at one meal and they will take all 3 meals off her pool of meals?

You can only pay for as many meals as your room key shows. For example, if your mom's room key shows 2 adults then she will only be able to pay for 2 meals at one sitting. As for the extra credits, she can use them for breakfast or she could treat herself to a signature meal which requires 2 TS credits. She is the only one that should use the credits since she is the one in the same room.

we were thinking about using them for a character breakfast. So if we are very careful about exactly who pays for who's ts meals, then we should be able to take advantage of the extra meals

discussing ways around Disney policy is NOT allowed here on the Dis. This site is full of great info. :welcome: to the Disboards!

It is Disney's written rule, published in its dining plan literature, that you may not use your credits to purchase meals for guests who are not on your dining plan. It's somewhat different if the guests are all on the dining plan and you just have someone who is not going to be using all their meals in the same party.

If your father is on the dining plan, but is leaving early or arriving late, anyone registered in his room may use his meals. However, if there are two guests registered in the room, that key card may be used to purchase only two meals at a time. If your mother has a card that says two adults, she will not be able to use her DDP to pay for three meals. This is to keep DDP users from buying meals for guests; unfortunately it will also affect parties with two separate rooms, both on dining plans.

Sorry I did not mean to cause such a fuss, I honestly though we would be able to do this, just the logistics of doing it were what I was curious about. When I added on my father, the agent implied that we would be able to use the extra meals.

In the 2012 dining plan, the language is also a bit vague. It says: " Sorry, you may not use your Disney Dining Plan to redeem meals for friends or family
members who are not included in your reservation or have not purchased a Disney dining plan." it is the "or" that got me. We do have a dining plan, so I thought we would be allowed to do this.

You will be allowed to do this...so long as your mother doesn't buy more than two meals at a time.

This is a policy that was put into place to prevent the more prevalent use of the dining credits - to buy meals for Grandma from Orlando who stopped by for the day, or to buy the dining plan for one room and use it to feed multiple persons who are not registered in that room and did not buy the dining plan. Unfortunately it may catch even those who are a group all on DDP but staying on separate room reservations.

Because you have separate room reservations, you will be considered to have two separate dining plans.
