Dining plan...can TS be used for CS?

I asked the other day and never saw a for sure answer. Does anyone know if you can just use one of your Table Service meals for a Counter Service meal instead in the parks? Thanks!

I don't think you can, but the regular DP does come with Counter service meals per night of stay. If you stay 3 nights, 4 days, you get 3 CS meals each.

If you are doing the deluxe plan, you can use Table service or counter service.
I don't think you can with the regular DP though.

With Disney it is never for sure unless you see it in their literature.

However there are a couple of compelling reasons why they would allow it:
1. There will be people on the Dining Plan who are unable to get into a TS restaurant because they don't have an ADR. I don't believe they would expect you to go hungry.
2. It saves Disney money if you use a TS credit for a CS meal.

In 2006 Free Dining was so popular that the TS restaurants were full and Disney were giving people a bonus to use a TS credit for a CS meal. Something like extra snacks or a free lanyard.

They did let you swap a TS for a CS last year and 2006 at the end of sept during free dining. There was a leaflet in our room both years explaining the swap.
They gave you a coupon at the CS when you told them you wanted to use a TS then you took it to a gift shop and they allowed you to get a disney pin (you dont get to choose my kids swapped them pretty quickly) or a snack.

However I dont know if they will be doing this year nothing is set in stone but as the pp states the ADRs are hard to come by during free dining so maybe they will this year too.

Disney allowed the 'swap' during the last year or two of Free Dining because so many Guests weren't aware that reservations needed to be made. I know last year, every time I called, the CMs strongly suggested making dining reservations then, instead of waiting until you arrived.

Not knowing it's necessary is different from being aware well in advance but simply choosing not to make the commitment.
