Dining Plan at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.....Questions?

I just have a couple of questions. One applies to all sit down restaurants, I guess, and one to the Yachtsman Steakhouse specifically.

1. I know you get an appetizer. Can you get a Soup or Salad instead at the restaurants? They seem to be cheaper than most appetizers, so I couldn't imagine why you couldn't, but I figured that I would ask.

2. At the Yachtsman Steakhouse can my husband and I use our two credits each to get the 'Chateaubriand For Two,' or is that an 'off limits' item? We would obviously be fine for it to take up all four of our credits.

3. Can a big person order their dessert from the kids menu? My niece is going with us and qualifies as an adult (she is 11) but I know she would want the Tinkerbell dessert that my Daughter (who is 4) has on the kids menu. Can she order her dessert from there, or will that confuse them?

Thanks so much!

**Edited to change the credits needed at the Steakhouse. I meant four, but said two! Thanks!

Salads or soups are considered appetizers so you are fine there.

YSH is 2 credits/person so it would take four credits to dine there. I'm not sure about the chateaubriand but I would be very surprised if you would not be able to order it on the DDP but again as two people using two credits each for dinner. It is not always on the menu though.

Servers at WDW are so understanding about things like the dessert. I can't imagine a WDW server denying a child's dessert to an 11 yo. :sunny:

We just used DDP at the YS in late June & both DH & I had salads for appetizers....They were great!

We also had the Chateaubriand for 2 & it was allowed using 2 credits per person......(By the way....It was outstanding!!)

I can't answer the rest because we were on the Premium so our points worked a bit differently (1 credit for everything -- but the "for two" might not qualify -- I know when we went to Rainforest Cafe the Volcano counted as 2 desserts).

I CAN, however, answer the dessert question.

We ALL ordered the Tinkerbell puzzle dessert (my DD was 11 on the trip too) but as we kept passing the dessert table (a zillion bathroom runs that meal), it was the one I liked the best, so asked the waitress if it was OK if I got it and then that was the one my hubby wanted too, so all 6 of us ordered that dessert.

Not a problem at all.
