Warning ;) We did the dining plan for 13 nights and I gained 14 lbs!!!!
My usual lifestyle is to workout in a gym with weights 3 times per week, meals :-
-muesli cereal for breakfast,
-lentil soup for lunch
-low fat small portion evening meal, eg pasta, grillled meat or fish with veg.
-Treats at home would be white wine on a weekend, and roast beef and veg lunch on Sunday with a chocolate pudding and custard dessert.
All of that was tossed aside on the dining plan by my own choice.:rolleyes1

Typical Meal on dining plan:-:cloud9:

Breakfast - Cheese Danish or Cinnamon Roll, or french toast platter or waffle and fruit platter.

Lunch - Barbecued beef sandwich with bean and corn muffin, Key Lime Pie or Burger or fish, n fries with chococolate cake

Dinner - eg:- Shrimp in butter, Steak with creamed mashed potatoes, Chocolate lava cake, or cheescake or banana bread pudding, tropical fruit cocktail.

Its easy to gain weight on the dining plan:laughing:

Since I got home and returned to my normal regime I have lost 5 lbs in 5 days!:laundy: But I am suffering some serious food withdrawal symptoms:eek:

I gained five pounds in 9 days. I have been on a diet since Monday I'm also going through withdrawls. I have to remind myself, you can't eat dessert with every meal. Boy, do I miss those Mickey bars :rolleyes1

I gained 4lbs in 2 weeks...:scared1: Boy, do I miss that Dining plan :rolleyes1

My totally unscientific theory about weight gain/loss is that anything that occurs over a relatively short time (good or bad) is temporary.

If you stuff yourself for a week and then go back to your normal habits, you'll go back to your regular weight. If you diet like crazy for a month and then go back to your normal habits, you'll go back to your normal weight.

It's all about input and output, and unless you make a significant change in one or the other (or better, both) over a long period of time, it's not going to matter in the long run.

That's such a nice way to put it. My DH are currently living an Atkins lifestyle and have a feeling we will be putting on some pounds at Disney on the DP. We will just have to work that much more when we get home to get back on track.

dh and i have been dieting for over a year. i've lost 125 pounds and he's lost 100. on a 5 day vacation i gained 14 pounds, and he gained 12:scared1: we started eating right and exercising when we came back, and lost it all that week :goodvibes thank god for good metabolism

I lost 115-120 pounds last year and when we went to Disney in March I had been maintaining that loss for approximately 4 months. I gained 7 pounds and as soon as I hit the airport at D/FW went right back onto a regimented eating plan with WW. I lost that weight in 1 week and have been maintaining since. I think it is inevitable that you will gain weight on vacation but what might have been a 10 pound gain for me was only 7. I did watch somewhat! I don't stress over gaining weight at Disney. I know it's going to happen I just can't lose my head and continue to eat that way when I get home!

I have unscientific proof that your unscientific theory works. I came back last week from 5 days in WDW on the DDP. In 5 days I gained 4 pounds. But after a week back, I've lost all 4 of those pounds. I've never lost weight THAT quickly! Last year, I gained about 7 pounds and lost it in 2 weeks. Disney weight isn't too bad-easy come, easy go!

I Gained about 10 pounds last year on the DDP for 7 nights. Me and DW will be there in 4 1/2 days for 9 nights from Sept 21-30 at POP and I plan to beat last years 10 pound mark. popcorn:: Can't wait. :hippie: :cool1:

I have been on a change in my lifestyle since December. When I left for DW in May, I was on the DDP. I was on it for 4 nights (5 days- I had credits left.)

Anyhoo, when I left the World, I found out I actually lost 7 pounds.

Why?

Well, here's my big tip:

GET EARLY RESERVATIONS!!!!!

I never have dinner after 6:30PM period. All of my ADRs were around 5:30 or so. And I ate a lot of food!

But,

We always did the Magic Evening Hours which basically consisted of us walking around, riding rides until 11P-2A. So if I finished eating at 7PM, I worked off that meal before I went to bed within that 4- 7 hours.

Oh, and since we always did the Evening hours, we would sleep in and eat a breakfast bar and juice for breakfast, arrive at the parks by 11AM, eat lunch my 12PM, and keep the whole thing moving! (My wife is not a big breakfast fan.)

So, by eating early and working off the meal, I actually lost weight. Frankly, everytime I hear someone say that they ate dinner at 8:30PM or something, I think I would have a stomachache.

Last year in september my family of 4 enjoyed the free dining plan for 6 nights and when I came home I didn't gain a pound- how nice was that. For our upcoming trip it is just me and the hubby, so no dining plan. This may sound cheap but I am going to bring my own Special K cereal to eat in the morning. This is what I have been doing for awhile in my efforts to lose weight. I wouldn't worry about gaining any weight though because I know I would just come home and work it off. At disney we all walk alot so can you imagine eating all of that food and just sitting around your resort doing nothing? We would all come home weighing 50 pounds more- ha!! We are staying at CSR which has a exercise center and I have been thinking about hitting that early in the morning so help my weight loss efort or should I say the keeping off disney food challenge- ha!!!

My DH and I watch our weight everyday. About 4 years ago I lost 75 pounds and have kept it off ever since. Even though we've been to the World twice a year since then on the FP. Yes, I sure have gained my share of weight during our trip, but I take it right back off as soon as we get home. I think the most I've gained on one trip was 12 pounds and that was a 14 day trip. One week at the World and one week on DCL. What a great trip and there was no way I was going to even think about watching my calories on that trip. To us, the food was part of the fun. I feel if you make up your mind to enjoy the food while your there, but know you have to work at getting it off as soon as your home, you'll be just fine. It has always worked for us.

I was worried about that when we went to WDW last month. We got the dining plan and ate what we wanted, but only ate until we were satisfied. Even if that meant leaving 1/2 a steak and only taking a couple of bites of dessert. Everything was wonderful.

When I went for my Weight Watchers weigh in after our 7 night trip, I'd actually lost 1.5 pounds. I told my husband that we have to go live at WDW and do the dining plan until I get to my goal weight!

We just got back, were there for 9 days on the dining plan. I'm on Weight Watchers and did NOT watch what I ate. Had appetizers, desserts, yummy snacks. Came home and stepped on the scale and weighed the same as when I left!

Me and Dh are currently living Atkins, and I joined Curves. I have gone down 20 lbs. since I started a month ago.
Lots more to go, but I'm excited about it.

I look forward to our trip in Feb. so I can "reward" myself, but I know its just vacation eating!
Need to be carefuL!

I started to low carb and have lost 1 dress size so far, not weighed my self before I went on holiday and I am not doing that after. I don't intend to worry about that I wil just go back to eating more healthy after the holiday and stuff worrying about weight!!
