Dining plan and 2 rooms

for the dining plan for the 4 of us (we booked before the price increase) so I think it was roughly $2020 for 7 nights of the deluxe plan with 2 adults and 2 kids ... now that being said .. we would be using these credits amongst 6 people .. hmm .. what is the best way to determine how much we would in reality spend if we paid out of pocket!??

I always go to the menus and cost out what we normally spend, so look at the ts meals you planned and start building your spreadsheet with the amount for each meal. Include tax

Look over the cs restaurants you are likely to choose and figure out about how much your family would order. Add tax.

The dxddp allows two snacks per person per day. If you would order them, figure $4.00 per snack. Sobs are more and some less. Add tax.

I don't figure gratuities in at this point.

If you would not use the refillable mugs do not add that cost.

Then just compare oop cs your plan.

Some other things to consider along with Nancy56's suggestions, are your kids old enough that they might want adult QS meals or will they still want the kid's meals (they can order either with the DxDDP or OOP)? Does your family want to drink soda/tea/coffee with all meals or do you prefer water? With four on the DxDDP, you will have 8 snacks per night, will you use all of those or end up getting stuff to take home with leftover credits?

You're close to $500 for all of you with the two TS you have chosen, so will you spend $1500 on QS and snacks? Only you can really make that choice depending on how you like to eat.

I would get QSDP for your room (sharing it with your parents) and pay OOP for the two TS meals and the few other QS meals you would've gotten out of the DxDP. The QSDP for your room should be about $930. I haven't priced out your two TS, but someone above said $500. That's $1430. So you are saving $600 over the DxDP. Now you are short about 16 credits that you would've gotten on the DxDP, but seeing how that is less than 3 full QS meals for your group, $600 should more than cover it. You'll probably have $400-$450 left for other things. You'll get the same amount of snacks and mugs with either plan since the QSDP has two snacks/pp this year.

Piggybacking on this thread to ask a similar question:

We are going down Jan 2018, possibly getting 2 studios which will be split 3 adults (my parents and sister) and DH & I + our kids.

We were going to just get DDP, but now, I'm thinking it may be better to just do DXDDP on our room. We just came back, had plenty of snacks left over and even some QS because my sister and I shared often.

After reading this thread, I am considering upgrading one room out of 2 to the DXDDP. 2 rooms shared between 6 disney adults and 3 disney kids. If we all (9 of us) go out for a meal, can one room pay for all the kids and one room pay for all the adults? There are really only 4 true adults, the other kids are over 10 but eat light. Hoping for the FD promo so the upgrade on one room would only be about $600 and the rest "free". Would this work or would they frown on it at the TS restaurants? I like the idea of the extra meal each day and the appetizers included on the DXDPP plan.

My kids are definitely kids meals people .. they are 5 and 7 and do not really eat big meals at all!
I'm still trying to decide what to do .. the DxDP for 2A and 2K would be $1975 .. that would be 84 credits to use for 6 people over 7 nights ... 12 of that would be Mickeys BBQ ..still leaving 72 credits to be used ...
maybe it's cheapers to do the QDSP for 2A and 2K ..and pay OOP for TS meals ... I think I will go do that math!!!

I originally booked with just the QS plan and seemed perfectly happy with that, but then..... the possibility of getting an FD package got me looking at possible ADR's and there were a lot we wanted to do. There are several character breakfasts that would be fun for the kids, but then the adults want some good dinners. Now, I'm thinking I will upgrade one of our packages to DxDP. We are 2 rooms with 4 adults and 5 kids, so the flexibility of using the Deluxe credits for the adults seems so worth it for us. I hate to worry at each meal how much everything costs.
