Dining/Parade Question

Hi all,

We haven't been to DL in a few years, and have only been twice, so we don't know our way around all that well, however, I seem to recall that there was a restaurant in DCA that had an outdoor terrace. It was possible to book the restaurant with terrace seating and view the parade (I noticed it will be at 5pm during our upcoming trip). Is this still a valid thing to do? I don't remember restaurant name, but I do believe the restaurant has changed, or closed for some period during the recent construction, so maybe it doesn't offer this anymore.

Also, any other advice about booking ressies in advance? Are there any restaurants that it is a 'must'? As you might have guessed, we come from the world of ADR's at WDW!

TIA!

I think the restaurant your talking about is the wine country trattoria.

We're WDW vets + Disneyland newbies currently here on our first trip and we ate at Wine Country Trattoria on thursday. This is indeed the restuarant with an outdoor terrace where you can view the parade. It is also one of the two in-park restaurants (the new Carthay Circle being the other) which offer World of Color dinner packages. Be advised that since the parade goes right past the restuarant, it is very difficult to get to it when the parade is going by so make sure you make reservations before 5pm and/or get to the restauarant before the parade begins.

We enjoyed our meal at WCT, and the preferred viewing area tickets for World of Color were a great benefit.

Wine Country Trattoria has the porch to eat and looks out onto the parade route. Eating there can also get you dining area at WOC.

As far as must eat, I've haven't eaten there YET, but I would say Carthay Circle Theater would be a must eat event. It's received fabulous reviews.

Where were your seats at, and how early did you get there? I have a res at 6:20 PM and am a little worried that'll conflict with the first show:confused3

Thank you for your responses! I didn't get an email notification for some reason so I didn't see all your helpful notes until I did a search! At any rate, I will be calling DL tomorrow then to make a ressie. Did you have to book very far in advance for WCT? We are about a month out so I am behind the 8-ball. I am interested also in the new Carthay Restaurant. Just wondering if the parade can be seen while dining or is it just something you can do while enjoying a cocktail? Either way sounds great but just don't know what to book as far as dining!!!

Both are nice in that they offer WOC tickets but I have to admit that we may not make it to WOC. We will probably be up EARLY in order to get to Carsland, but it won't be too difficult given that we are in the midwest, CA's 6am is my 8am so no sweat! However, staying up until 9pm (which is my 11pm) is a different story, especially for my DS, 7.

Thanks again for the help!
