Good afternoon....:goodvibes
Can someone please explain the dining plan to me?...:confused3 I have been trying to find info about DLR dining plan and can't. I am looking at a 4 day plan. Is it similar to WDW's plan?
Also, is there a quick service/counter service restaurant in Paradise Pier Hotel? Just somewhere to grab a quick breakfast before the parks/touring or a pool day?
Thanks :thumbsup2
Erin

Hi Erin,
I don't have much detail for you, but will say that it is NOT like the dining plan at WDW at all. All the posts I have read state that it does not save any money at all, is fairly complicated to keep track of and is not recommended. The only pro to the plan is if you want to basically pre-pay for meals (ie: you have the $$ now but may not when your trip time comes). And many of the CM's get confused when you use the vouchers. Again, just what I have read over and over. As for PP, I don't know of a quick counter service place, but there are snacks and drinks for purchase at a little place right before you enter the Lilo & Stitch buffet. I think it is actually a bar with a glassed in cooler area with premade sandwiches and such. Someone else may know more.

I have never done the dining plan at DL but do know that it is NOTHING like the one at WDW (which I have done twice and love :) )
At DL you get vouchers that are worth certain amounts of $$. However it saves you no $$ and you can actually lose $$ because you don't get change back when using a voucher.
Most people do not recommend the dining plan at DL. I wish they would have one like WDW but I honestly think they just don't have the restaurants at the DLR to make it feasible.
Oh - the only restaurant at PP is Lilo and Stich which is a sit down restaurant.
Hope that help!
I'm sure somebody else will chime in also! ;)

Thank you all for your responses....you guys have been very helpful. :goodvibes
I have been to WDW several times, but never to DLR....and I don't know a lot about it, so this board has been wonderful! :thumbsup2 I feel like I have been asking lots of questions and everyone has been great! (And I'll probably be asking a ton more questions too...:rolleyes1 )
Thanks again.....
Erin

When I stayed at PP, I walked over to the GC and went to Whitewater Snacks or LaBrea Bakery in Downtown Disney (breakfast).

if you dont want to do it but want to do charcter meals check out getawaytoday.com i think thated save you some and put what ever you would spend on the plan on disney gift cards thats what i was told to do

The dining plan at DLR is inferior (IMO and many others here) to WDW's because:
a) It doesn't save you as much money
b) You get a set amount of dollar amount vouchers and when you use those vouchers you don't get change. So for example if you want to pay for something that costs $4.95 with a $5 voucher, you will lose 5 cents. That's not a big deal, but if you have run out of $5 vouchers, you need to either pay in cash (which defeats the purpose of a dining plan) or pay with a $10 voucher and lose $5.05 (which can add up significantly)
c) You can't use the vouchers at Downtown Disney restaurants
