we're booking the Movies resort for 10 days with 4 days park pass, and the dining package for the 10 days.

my question I suppose is that the dining package says 1 table meal, 1 diner meal, and 1 snack per person per day.

The Movie resort has no table dining so I presume we are supposed to book the table dining each breakfast or dinner at any other restaurants is that correct??

and if we only have a 4 day pass that means the only table meals outside those 4 days must be taken at the other resorts table restaurants.

if anyone has done this package could you let me know how it works best

please can someone help a first timer - thanks very much!:)

I would definitely do TS restaurants the days you are in the parks; that takes care of at least 4 out of the 10, and if some of them are requiring double credits (like Cinderella's Royal Table for example), that is more credits used still.

Then there are many TS experiences in other resorts and Downtown Disney, to take care of the rest. IE Wofgang Puck and Cap'n Jacks downtown. Chef Mickey at CR and O'hana at Poly as other resort (non-park) examples.

Also, It's my understanding the difference between 4 day and 6 or 7 day tickets is very minimal, you may want to consider changing that, or upgrading to the extra days after arriving at the parks (all you have to pay is the difference, IIRC).

I am sure others will chime in with more input for you. Have a great vacation!

Edit: additionally, you can do 2 table service meals in one day ie one for lunch and one for dinner, but I wouldn't neccessairily recommend doing that on a park day if you are only doing the 4 days.

We've used the dining plan several times, and it's a lot of food! I wouldn't recommend 2 TS in one day, we tried it once and it was just too much. Here's what we usually do to "maximize" the plan: We use the snack credits for breakfasts on mornings that we don't have a TS breakfast planned (we always do TS breakfasts on non park days, they eat up too much valuable morning park time otherwise), anything $4 and under is a snack, so that would include things like muffins and such for breakfast. For lunch we usually do a quick CS so we don't lose too much touring time, then stop and relax for a TS meal in the evening. That's just what works best for us, now that we're adding a new little one to the mix it might change, lol.
I would also consider adding more park days to your tickets, it's only around $4/day, and 1 day for each park may not be enough time, depending on your touring schedule and time of year you're traveling.
I hope you guys have a great trip, and happy planning! And....:welcome:

remember that the dining plan is tied to you nights, so if you are there for 9 nights and 10 days, you will have 9 credits per person, that can be used for the entire 10 days. There is PLENTY of food, so don't worry about going hungry!!!:)

May I ask why your are only having 4 day passes, but staying 10 days? I would add more park time. You will still have lots of resort time, and the adding isn't much more in price. But yes you can only eat at the other resorts or Downtown Disney if you don't have a ticket to the park for that day. If you are going away for the day out of the disney property, then you may want to double up some table service days. We have 4 days worht of meals, but we get in late our first day, so we are doing Chef Mickeys for a breakfast one day, and then the Crystal Palace for supper.

What? You can ONLY eat at other resorts if you don't have park tickets for that day? Are you sure about that? We're staying at POFQ, and I want to eat at 1900 Park Fare on day. Does that mean I should cancel park tickets for that day? I'm a first-timer, too.
Thanks.

I'm not reallly sure what you are saying. But you can eat at any resort any day, but you can't get into a park to eat, unless you have tciket for the park that day. But you can leave the park and eat anywhere else if you want. You just can't get int the park to eat with out a ticket. So don't book at Crystale Palace in MK unless you plan to be in that park that day. But you can eat at any resorts any day. Whether you have plans for the park or not.
The OP is only going to be able to eat in parks 4 of her 10 day trip, so she will have to plan to eat at resorts mostly.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but it sounds as if you are under the impression that your CS meals must be at Movies, since you are booked there. Just want to clarify that you can eat at any CS throughout the World, same as with the TS meals. Eat in the park on your park days, at your resort or any other, or DTD on non-park days. I would suggest trying Pepper Market at Coronado Springs if you want to try other resorts... it is delicious!

As for TS meals, you might want to look into a dinner show, since you have so many non-park days. We did Hoop Dee Doo Revue last year, and my kids loved it as much as we did. It does take 2 TS credits each, but is all-you-can-eat ribs, chicken, beer, and sangria... well worth the money!

What was meant that the OP can only eat at the resorts BECAUSE they don't have park tickets. To eat in a park, you must have a ticket to get in. On the day you eat at 1900 Park Fare, you can go to your park, leave and go eat, then go back to your park if you so choose. (Or any other park if you have hopper tickets.)

My family just arrived back from WDW this week, and we used the dining plan staying at Saratoga Springs for 10 nights. I most definetley agree with the above poster when they say the dining plan is A LOT of food. To make it worse, the meals at WDW were almost double the size of the meals that we get in Australia. In short heres how it works - for every day you have the dining plan (per person) you get:

1 x Snack
1 x Counter Service Meal (CS)
1 x Table Service Meal (TS)

Snack
Usually anything under $4 within the WDW resort. We didnt find this out till we arrived at WDW, but anything with a purple sticker next to it is on the dining plan. Note not all places have the purple stickers next to the items, but if you unsure just ask. McDonalds fries, icecream, candy, popcorn, drinks, icecream tubs, chips..... just about anything

Counter Service Meal
A sit down meal where you order at the counter and go sit down at a table e.g. McDonalds would be a CS meal. A CS meal includes:

1 x drink,
1 x meal (e.g. burger and fries)
1 x desert (a lot of people dont actually realise that a desert is included in the CS - e.g. chocolate cake, apple pie)

Table Service Meal
A sit down meal at a restraunt where a waiter looks after you. A TS meal includes:

1 x Appatizer
1 x Entree
1 x Desert
Unlimited Soft Drink - yes thats right, unlimited! When my family first started using the TS meals, we thought it was odd and rather quite rude how the waiters kept re-filling our cokes with us even asking. We just assumed it was there way of getting us to pay a bill at the end of our meal as we thought the TS meal only included 1 soft drink per person. After a while we started saying no thankyou to more drinks.... and then when we checked our bill they didnt charge us for the extra soft drinks.

We thought it was a bit unusual, but the second night we used the TS Meal, the same thing happened.... kept re-filling our drinks and we werent charged for them. I'm not sure if this is common in the USA, but in Australia they charge you for every drink that you have.

Note that Alchaloic drinks are not included in the TS Meal, and you will be charged extra for those. Then they add the 18% gratatuity on top of that. Also the Dining Plan includes the gratatuity so theres no need to tip your waiter.

Say you have 5 people in your family using the Dining Plan for 5 nights:

25 x Snacks
25 x CS
25 x TS

For example, the first day you wake up and you decide to use a CS meal for breakfast. You'll get your food, go to pay and you'll give them your disney dining card. They'll swipe it and take 5 CS meals off your card. On the reciept it will then say: 20 CS meals reamining.

Also I would recommend going to the Italian restraunt in World Showcase, Epcot. It is well worth the value as for 5 of us our meal would have cost us $240. Instead of being charged $240 they just used 5 TS meals which is awesome value because 5 Dining Plans that day only cost us approx $200 - which basically means your getting a snack, a CS meal and $40 of food for free!

Hope that helps, if you have any other questions feel free to send us a PM.
