Dining options?? Help!

I keep hearing about the new dining plan (MYW) but understand you have to book a package to use this. What options (if any) are available if you book everything separately. We rent DVC points for our stays and use AP's for our park tickets.

Is there a better option for dining?

DDE is the option for those with AP's I believe the cost is $50/year and you get 20% off of most meals.
