I am taking my 80 year old mom on a 4 night on the Dream. I have been on 8 DCL cruises. She has never been. Together we have been on Carnival and Royal. I want her to see why I LOVE DCL. One of the things we love to experience together is dining. And on both other lines, well, let’s just say the experiences weren’t so great. I want to take her to both Remy and Palo dinners and since we have one sea day, brunch. BUT WHICH ONE?! I have been to both and just cannot decide which she would enjoy more. And trust me, she will leave the decision to me. Also, if you are going to skip one dining room, which one and why? I personally always try to skip animators as it is my least favorite but for a first timer, senior? All opinions welcome!

Remy is more refined and relaxed, but I prefer the food offerings at Palo brunch.

In this case, I might choose to miss EG. I do prefer the menu there to AP, but AP is so Disney. The Crush interaction is not like anything else on any ship.

You could always show her the menus for Palo and Remy and see if she has a preference. In general, the type of food she likes could drive the decision as well - Remy being a bit more fancy. As she is your mom and you have also been on multiple cruises with her, my guess is you know what types of food she likes in general. As for which restaurant to skip, I wouldn't worry about other people's opinions - plan to skip Animators if that is what you prefer then you can move on to other things. Enjoy your cruise.

I would think a senior might really be enchanted with Animator's. It really depends on what your mom likes, but I imagine my mom or dad at that age would have been enthralled with the show and the technology. It might depend on how much technology she has experience with, however. It is part of the Disney magic, in my mind.

I like to miss the Pirate menu so I usually find out when that is and book from there.
We have been to Palo brunch and dinner and Remy dinner. After trying the dinners at both, we prefer the Palo brunch because not only do we enjoy the offerings; we like being able to see the beautiful day from the restaurant.

I recommend taking her to Palo, which offers a lot more choices than Remy, and skipping Animator's, which is not very impressive on the Dream.

Animators is also loud. My parents are younger but they do say Crush night us hard for them, and that's the show on the Dream.

I would take a goodie who loves gourmet dining to Remy, no question. May be the best dining experience they will ever have.

If they are like most folks, though, true gourmet dining may nit be their thing. I’d take them to Palo for a really great dinner served in an elegant setting. Quite a memorable experience. Just remember chocolate soufflé!
