Hey! Me and my husband are taking my daughter and her best friend (ages 15--almost 16--and 16) on a Disney Cruise in October for my daughters 16th birthday. Me and my husband would love to eat at one of the adult only restaurants but we were wondering if our teens would be able to attend the regular rotational dining without us. Would they be allowed to do that or do they have to go to the buffet or quick service dining places? I don't see why they couldn't if we gave permission but still wanted to see if anybody else knew.

This is our first Disney Cruise so we are trying to figure everything out! Any advice welcomed!

Thank you!

I'm about 99.9% positive that you won't have any issues sending the girls to rotational dining based on what I've read around dis. As long as they're both comfortable with the idea of going by themselves and you know they'll be respectful of neighbors. (I could be wrong though, don't take my word for it)

Yes, they are perfectly fine going to the dining room on their own. Some people even send their much younger children by themselves (although, personally, I am not a fan of that idea). As long as you know that your daughter and her friend can be trusted to behave themselves, there is no reason why they shouldn't go to dinner by themselves. Just let your servers know the night before that you, personally, won't be there - just out of courtesy.

Okay! Thank you!

We sent two teens to dine "alone" once in the Mdr. It went well but the next time we tried to do it they opted for room service.

As a courteousey, let your serving team know the night before.

Depending on your reservation time, you could always go to the main dining room for the first part (not eat anything) and then head to your reservation. This of course is all based on personal preference.

No issue at all! We just did it on the Fantasy in March. We did let our server and head server know in advance that the girls (same ages as yours) would be solo that night. Strangely enough though, when we were in Palo, the hostess came to the table to ask if we were going to be utilizing our table in the MDR for that evening (nearly gave me a heart attack), but I confirmed the girls were there, etc so no problem. The head server did tell us the next night how well behaved they were, etc... and he took me aside to assure me that they keep a special eye on the teens eating alone just to be sure no one slips them drinks, etc. which I hadn't even thought about, but was glad to know Dis had it covered! Palo was amazing by the way, if that is the restaurant you are considering!! Enjoy!

On our cruise last January, my mom, sister, DH and I had Palo reservations one night. We thought about feeding all the kids ahead of time, but they really wanted to go to the main dining room. We gave our server a heads-up, and put my 14 year old niece in charge, with my 12 year old nephew as back-up. (Also threatened my 7 and 8 year old with dire consequences if we got a bad report of them misbehaving or not listening to their older cousins.) It was fine. We finished early and were able to go spy on them a bit toward the end of their meal. Fortunately, they were all behaving perfectly and having so much fun.

Our servers offered to watch our 8 and 6 year olds while we went to Palo! Teenagers should not be a problem :)

Yes, my daughter has eaten in the dining rooms at both 17 and 18. Other options that she loves are room service and watching movies on the TV; the quiet atmosphere of dinner at Cabana; and the on deck options like pizza and tacos.

They can dine in the MDR or order room service or pick up burgers, pizza, etc. on the pool deck. There are a lot of choices and most 16 year olds are mature enough to handle all of those on their own. They may even just grab something at take it back to Vibe (the teen club).
