Just back from a fantastic two weeks at Villas at Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club Villas. The dining was excellent again. We had dinner at Whispering Canyon, Citricos, Trail's End, Kona Cafe, Crystal Palace, Artist Point, Cape May Cafe, Spoodles, Flying Fish and Cellier. If anyone has any questions about our experiences there, please feel free to ask!

Two observations, however.
Cape May: with the tables crammed into the adjacent bar area and all the booths for four having ugly convention chairs crammed onto the end so they could seat 5, the buffet lines were very long. We ate at 5.30 and when we went to the dessert bar, the seafood line was right up there. I counted 23 people waiting for plates for the seafood side. The food was still very good, so the kitchen is still churning it out, but there were a lot of cranky people! Will not be returning there next trip.

Le Cellier: Wonderful food, but talk about 'cram them in'! Our table for two had 10 inches on one side and 11 inches on the other from our fellow diners. It was so cozy that we felt we were dining with the other two couples so set up (very enjoyable) conversation with them. Our server (who was very thin) kept apologising for brushing our table each time she passed by. She was really embarrassed about it, and when I teased her about how many they had crammed in she just rolled her eyes and said 'it's not my place to comment'!

Like I say, wonderful dining, but looks like they are cramming even more in. One good thing - we did not feel rushed like we have in past visits.

Anyway, feel free if you have any questions...

Welcome home, I'm glad that you had a great time. If I may ask, how was Artist Point and Trail's End? We're planning on dining at Artist Point in November. Is the food and service as good as always?
Trail's End is a definite dinner experience. Did you like the buffet or would you avoid it in the future? Personally, I don't eat many fatty foods, but I do love their fried chicken.
Thanks.

Hi Dana
Artist Point was excellent, as always. I thought the Penn Cove Mussels were outstanding. Coffee two ways is a neat pudding too!
We love Trail's End. Ate there twice this trip. Lots of salad options, chilli, soup, shrimp to start. Fried chicken, ribs, salmon, prime rib, pasta, pizza, corn, potatoes and veggies. Then a nice (small) dessert bar: cobbler, cookies, fruit, brownies, carrot cake. You'll love it. Apart from the chicken, nothing was fried!

Welcome home! Thanks so much for offering to field dining questions.

We are going to Whispering Canyon for the first time in a few weeks. I was wondering how your experience was there. How was the food, and how were the antics. There has been a lot of chatter that the antics are non-existant now.

We ate at Whispering Canyon an hour after we checked in at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. We were tired and hungry - we had left home 35 hours ago and I wondered if it was the right place! We were seated within 2 minutes (5.50pm ADR) and both ordered the skillet. We thought it was very good, even though the shrimp seemed a strange addition instread of sausage. I was really thirsty, so asked for water with my beer. I downed it really quickly and then the server (Hedda Lettuce) brought one of those gallon jars full of water. As for antics: loads of ketchup removals to other tables, anniversary couples made to kiss, dad's being singled out after finishing their water etc. Very loud and very lively, and really a perfect way for us to begin our 2 weeks. I followed this with a visit to the MK, but my DW was fast asleep by 9pm! Hope you enjoy Whispering Canyon.

I'd love to hear about Kona and Flying Fish, especially about the food.

The food at Kona Cafe was very good. I had the shrimp and scallop dish and my wife had the vegetarian bowl. Both were excellent. The cafe was very busy but we did not feel rushed. Flying Fish was outstanding. For appetisers I had the Crab cake and Margaret had the Caesar. We both had the red snapper which was beautiful and for dessert we had the trilogy of summer peaches and the orange-scented cheesecake. We had never eaten there before and were delighted with our experience.

Thanks! I'm eating at both restaurants during my next trip, (now only 32 days away, :goodvibes ) and am glad to hear such positive reviews. :)
