Dining issue just popped up, adding one more?

We’re getting close to our first family trip in April, and all our ADRs are done. I found it much more difficult to find availability this time then when I first set these up for our cancelled trip from last year. For obvious reasons Im sure! Now my brother-in-law, who we are traveling with, has just told me theyve invited my teen niece’s friend to come along, and he calls me last night to ask me to modify the 2 ADRs i made to add one more person. Well I couldn’t figure out how to do that through MDE, so I called Disney Dining line. Waited for a whole hour for the CM to tell me they cant add 1 person either. Told me to just keep calling and checking. I said the hold times are so long, she said some people wait 2 hours instead of 1. Is there no better remedy to this? All of the rest of the kids are little and this is our only character dining we have booked, Hollywood & Vine. I was able to change TREX bc i just called them directly. We cant just walk up with her and say we have extra guest? Anyone else have this issue and it work out ok?

You can do an ADR check-in on MDE 20 mins. before your reservation. There is an opportunity to add another person then. Also, to add if you have any allergies.

Yes, recent trip...2 weeks ago. It was like that in Nov. too. Very easy, once a table is available you get a notice. I hope they keep that function.

This was true for us in December as well - except for Sci-Fi. Online checkin didn’t give us the option to add on there (we just wanted to replace our split party of 6+3 with 5+4). So it may not be an option everywhere.
