Dining in a group?

We are a party of 7 travelling: My parents, us, a 13 year old, and twin 6 year olds. We have 2 rooms.

My question is regarding dining. When they figure out the seating for dining, I assume they take into account the size of your party. First, how do they know that, even though we have adjoining rooms, we all want to dine together? Second, how many seats are at a table? If there are 8 at a table, do we get our own table? Also, I suspect my teenage daughter will be off on her own a lot, and hence won't even be around for meals. Even the twins may stay in the kids area for food (They have food there for them, don't they?) Does this mean we will constantly be sitting with empty seats?

Has anyone been through this with this kind of group? How did it work out?

THey should have your ressies linked and dinning ressies linked so you will eat all together. We have two rooms also, there are five of us total in cat 12, and whenever we call with one ressies, I don't have to give them other one b/c they already have it up.

We had 4 rooms with 12 people. We linked our reservations so that we had the same server. The first night we were a table of 4 and a table of 8, but by the second night they had put our tables together to make a table of twelve. We insisted that the four teenagers (and the 8yo) eat dinner together with us, but then they could leave when the event they wanted to attend began in the teen area. We had late seating which was great for everyone.

We had 7 cabins and a total of 14 in our group that wanted to dine together. We were at the large oval table that accomodates up to 14.

Whenever someone wasn't at dinner we would have an empty seat. They will not seat someone else at your established table during the cruise.

They may fill in tables from different cabins, but if it is a large group they usually just give them the table depending on seating capacity.

Our first cruise we had 7 people--had a table for 8. No one else seated with us. This time we had a party of 14 all at the same table. That didn't seem to be a problem. The waiter said they have 18 gueasts at each seating.

We were 13 of us together with 4 cabins. When each one of us made our reservations for our cabins, we stated we wanted to be "linked" together for dinner. Hence, we also were seated at a large oval table that sat all 13 of us.
