Dining.....I am just curious

My cruise last week was the first private table we every requested, but to be honest, with a 12 to 18 inch gap between tables, it was almost not a private table. We did interact with the people on either side, and two tables over on one side. On that ship there we were three MDR options, plus three specialty restaurants, plus three casual dining options, the buffet 3 casual dining options and a quick bite restaurant. So easy to change.
I know people mention spaces between tables and that's someone's opinion but it IS different than a shared table where people are literally sat with you in one table. Private DOES NOT mean you aren't around people or that you have wide open spaces between you and the tables near you (layout of the restaurant most dictates that). Private table means it's only your traveling party is sat at the table with you. You may be able to hear other conversations or feel like your conversation has to be at a quieter volume because of proximity to others but that is still different than having others AT your table.

And tvguy let's be real we're not talking about people just choosing a different restaurant as an avoidance measure, that's just moving the goal posts.
