Dining Help!

I'm planning my upcoming vacation at the end of May, and while I can't book dining reservations yet I'd like to have everything ready for when I can. The only trouble is that I'm having a hard time figuring out where to eat! I know I'd like to go to Ohana, and I've been told I'd like the Yak'n'Yetti, so those were 2 "must do's" (I say that loosely)...I've eaten at the Sci-Fi Diner, the 50's Prime Time Cafe, Coral Reef, Le Cellier, Ohana, Boma, and The Crystal Palace on previous trips. I'd like to try as many new places as I can, but I liked Ohana so much the first time I'd love to go back. I've heard that the Brown Derby was good, and that Teppan Edo was also good (and a cool experience), but I'd like to hear your imput! Where should I eat? I'd rather not take up 2 credits at once, but I'm willing to do that at a super special place. Suggestions?

OP, looks like we will be there the same time! We will be staying at POFQ...so excited. I pulled out my "working" list and I have La Hacienda (new mexican in Epcot), Brown Derby (Fantasmic pkg...might pay OOP for this one), Via Napoli, Boulangerie Patisserie, Ohana, Kona, Tusker House Bfast, Chef Mickey's, Sanaa.

As I've said, this is just a working list based on reviews and menus I've read...so much food, so little time!

I'm interested to see what others suggest...

Tepan Edo is very good and a fun experience. I also really like the character breakfast at Tusker House and 1900 Park Fare for dinner with Prince Charming and Cinderella without having to do 2 TS credits at CRT.


I am looking forward to trying La Hacienda the new Mexican restaurant at Epcot. I would like to have an evening reservation so I can eat and enjoy the fireworks.

So, you have eaten at Tepan Edo? I was a little afraid it would be too similar to your run-of-the-mill japanese restaurant. I have heard good things about the food there.

I would want to try Hacienda in the evening for the fireworks as well! Three years ago, we celebrated DH's birthday at Rose and Crown and they gave us a premier viewing spot on their terrace...probably my greatest memory of watching Illuminations!

So, you have eaten at Tepan Edo? I was a little afraid it would be too similar to your run-of-the-mill japanese restaurant. I have heard good things about the food there.

From what I've heard, Tepan Edo is like a standard cook-at-your-table japanese restaurant that you would find at home. This is why we've never eaten there.

I would be interested to see what other people say...

Other dining suggestions:

I second Sanaa, if you want to make the trip to Kidani. Great food and great views of the animals on the savanna while you eat!

Garden Grille--it's a character meal at dinner, but the food was simple and fresh. And no one rushed us to eat and leave. The characters each came by our table 3-4 different times during our meal, which our kids loved!

Tusker House--for breakfast. Again good food, but even better if you can score and early morning ADR before AK opens. Eating here before rope drop puts you at the prime place to be when rope drop happens--right next to K. Safari Just be ready for the mad rush that ensues!

I might give the new La Hacienda a try at Epcot...it seems to have gotten good reviews so far.

While I'm not traveling with small children (or any children for that matter) I still might plan to take in a character dining experience of some kind. I was thinking of maybe doing a dinner at 1900 Park Fair, but I've also heard great things about the Tusker House's breakfast. I also like that you get early access to the safari ride at the AK if you are able to book an ADR before the park opens. Maybe I'll end up doing both, who knows.

So far my list looks like this: Brown Derby, 1900 Park Fair, O'hana, Yak'n'Yetti, La Hacienda de San Angel, Saana, and the Tusker House. Obviously that's subject to change, but it's my working list.
