Dining Dilemma

I have reservations for Chef Mickey's for 6. Originally it was going to be six people. Four adults, one 4 yr old and one 1 yr old. Now it's going to be 7 and I tried to call and change it but there was no availability. My question.... Should I play dumb and go with 7 and claim that I didn't know my 1 yr old was a part of the reservation cause he's not technically on the dining plan? Or will they just tell me to take a hike? This is in 30 days so there's nothing else character related that's not in a park that we can go to. I will make a back up reservation just in case but what does everyone think my chances of getting into Chef Mickey's are? Will they really care about the one person difference?

We were there in July and I was just honest with them. We had a table for 14 reserved. 3 people got to Orlando earlier than expected and wanted to join us. My sister called me at 8 am and asked me to change the reservations. My reply was "you want me to add 3 people to an Ohana reservation the day of? If I pull this off then that is some Disney magic".

Well, went to the concierge at Boardwalk. They couldn't help me. Called Disney dining. Nope. Nothing. Had to check out of Boardwalk and spent the rest of day hanging at WL and checking in for the last 8 nights of our trip. Decided early evening to try one more time, so we got on the boat to MK and then the monorail to Poly. Walked up to the desk and asked the CMs what our best bet would be. This was at like 7 pm. Our reservations were 9:45 so we could watch fireworks. The CMs said "No problem" and that to remind them when we got back there that evening. I could have cried. I was that happy after spending all that time working on it. Just be honest with them. I think that is the best policy and I truly think that it will work out for you if possible.

just tell them the truth and see what happens. they will make it work for you if it is at all possible. the worse case may be a longer wait. i will say the cm tend to go out of the way to make everyone happy there

I will note that if the restaurant is filled to capacity when you arrive, and is anticipated to continue being filled to capacity, they will not be able to admit the 7th person due to fire codes. I don't know what the odds are that the restaurant will be that full at the particular time of your arrival. If the restaurant is not completely full, they will probably seat your party of 7 but you might have to wait until a table that will hold 7 opens up.

There is a possibility that if you really want this meal you may need an alternative for one member of your group.
