This was my second time going to Disney World since I stopped eating dairy and gluten. First time was in May but I was only there three days. This time was 10 days of dining :D At first I was excited, it's so hard to find places that are as careful as Disney. After the excitement wore off, I was bored at Counter Services, there's limited selections.... I know that's the case anyways it just happens quicker with GF/DF. I will give reviews by day. Here's the list of where I ate:

Our first full day there, we went to Sea World. They are not as easy to eat from, and seem to get flustered. I had a turkey burger on a hard bun. was not good at all! When I was at Sea World in May, no one seemed to know what I could eat, very frustrating! This time was better, but not by much. No one knew who I had to talk to, finally got the information and then I had to guess where to pick it up.

For dinner we went to T-Rex cafe, Sea World closed at 6 and I didn't want to deal with that again. Dinner was great. I had the Fire Roasted Chicken with beans and vegetables. Dessert was sorbet, it was the best sorbet I had all week!

Friday was our first full day at the parks. I had a gluten free dairy free bagel at Pop. It was good but I should have found butter and or peanut butter to go along with it. Forgot to ask the chef :). The chef that morning turned out to be one of my favorites.

For lunch I was looking forward to df/gf chicken nuggets from Backlot Express in HS. That opened 1/2 hour later than the rest of the other restaurants. We waited only to find out their allergy fryer had been contaminated by one of their employees cooking the wrong stuff in it. I was glad they told me but by the time I found out it was almost noon and all the other restaurants were busy. We ended going to ABC Commisary and I had the nuggets, fries and apples for dessert.

For dinner we hopped the boat to Yacht Club and ate at Captains Grill. It was great service and a great chef. He offered to make df/gf chicken pesto and gluten free pasta. The meal was huge and I so appreciated him doing it but apparently pesto needs the cheese. It was kind of plain. I also had a couple rolls that were tough. That's what I found all week was the rolls were tough and dry. Dessert was more sorbet that was very good!

Here's the pasta.

I'm looking forward to these reviews! I'll be visiting in January and it'll be my first Disney visit since going Gluten/Dairy free also!

Saturday we started the day eating breakfast at Pop Century. I had a dairy free/gluten-free waffle made on a designated waffle iron in the back topped with strawberry roses. Here they give you 100 % pure maple sugar. Keep that in mind and dump it on lightly! You only make that mistake once :). Waffle was very good until I overloaded it with syrup.

Lunch was flame tree BBQ. I had 1/2 chicken, fries and apples for dessert. I love this chicken, very good here. Ordering was different here than other counter service places. Here I went to the counter, talked to the chef, then went back to the line and ordered. I felt like I was cutting in line when I was done talking to the chef. It was busy so the chef was done with my food before I even ordered the others. I like ordering at the register better, better flow.

Dinner was at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian. I was nervous about the buffet with cross contamination, etc... The chef ran me through what I could and could not have. He was very fast about it. I didn't eat much because I was so unsure about what he had told me. He offered to make a dip for the gluten free rolls he sent. I said yes and he never sent it out. That seemed to be the case most of the places. I asked, they said yes and then never brought it out. The only reason I wanted something to dip it in is the rolls were so dry they crumbled. The chef did bring out some fresh dressing since there was ranch in the one I could have. I had some meat and fruit and not much else. The desert more than made up for not having a lot to eat. It was a kabob style with pineapple, cookie, dairy free ice cream, etc... Look at the picture and just try not to drool! It was hands down the best one of the week :D

So happy to see some recent GF reviews. My DD9 was diagnosed as Celiac and we are heading to WDW next week so your reviews are perfectly timed! Thanks for taking the time to post!

Thank you for the reviews and pictures! My DS2 is potentially Celiac (gluten intolerant at least) and we're traveling in Feb so I appreciate threads like this!

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the reviews so far. My daughter, 19, has celiac's disease and cannot have gluten or dairy. We have been to Disney 3 times since her diagnosis. She loves getting the chicken tenders at counter service, POP waffles (I don't think she had the strawberries, but I know she will get them next time, yum!) burger & shake at Sci Fi, salmon at Sunshine Seasons. We have a short 4 night trip planned for spring break. I'm looking forward to reading more of your reviews to see if we can find something new to try.

FYI- through trial and error we have discovered she can eat goat and sheep's milk cheese. Not sure if this would pertain to you, but wanted to let you know. Having real cheese again makes this diet so much better!

Sooty for not finishing. Will do the rest tomorrow so I can update next week when I go!

Thanks for sharing. My DD18 is dairy free and we are considering going gluten free as well.
Looking forward to reading the rest.

My daughter has a dairy allergy so I'm looking forward to learning more places to eat at Disney. I appreciate your lisiting the quick/counter service options as we will be on standard dining and I was very concerned about how those places cater to allergies. I feel less anxious to see that there are dairy free options for desserts, too! :thumbsup2
