Pardon me if this is extensively covered somewhere already. Ive looked but not found an answer and using the search with my iPad is frustrating.

Dining plan credits correlate with nights stayed on site, no? On my last stay, we checked out early and then spent the day in the parks before ME took us to the airport. The big (and embarrassing) downer was that all our meal credits vanished sand we had to pay OOP that day. Is this normal? Our park tickets still got us into AK though so I was pretty confused. I KNOW we had several credits left...

TIA for the replies.

Not sure what happened as your credits don't expire until midnight on the day you check out.

So if you had credits left when you checked out they should've been on your card.

Did you inquire about this at the time?

Sometimes mistakes happen, but you have to be on top of them.

Is there a chance that someone in your party used more credits than you are aware? Like a teen off on their own?

Yes I agree with OP. Your credits should be good until midnight of your checkout day. Not sure what might have happened :confused3

It was just me and my kids so I know the credits were there. It was my first DDP experience and I was horribly embarrassed so I just paid OOP and assumed I screwed up how the DDP works. I'm planning my next trip and trying to get all the details worked out so that I can make sure i don't feel that dumb again.

Thanks for the replies. It's nice (and frustrating) to know that I didn't screw up.

I had this happen to me when we went for Christmas, we had about 20 snacks left, and we went to downtown disney to use them all. They swiped our card and it showed empty, buuuuut my parents and I knowing we had some credits, ended up spending about 25 minutes (minimum) working it out. They sent my dad to guest relations at downtown disney, he came back to the store, they called the hotel, and the person ended up having to enter it in as "CASH" but having the credits being used. It was a huge ordeal, but we got all our stuff used.

And yes it is embarrassing....

There's been a bug in the system for awhile now. Dining (and snack!) credits are supposed to be available until midnight following your check out date (whether you physically check out or not). However, they have sporadically been disappearing after check-out time for awhile now. If this ever hits you, simply go to GR and get it squared away. If one of them tries to tell you they are gone at check out, ask for a supervisor.

In fact, until confirmation regarding that it's fixed, it may be a good idea to check beforehand (which you can check credits left at any GR location) and get them fixed on the spot, rather than being caught short-handed.

Great advice! Thanks!

So sorry that happened to you. :confused3 Luckily that hasn't happened to us. We always use up our last credits after we check out. We get meals for the plane and snacks to take home etc. in our 7 times using DDP.

Good to know what to do just in case it happens this October.

As Cafeen said, it is a known bug in the system and appears to happen occasionally and randomly. What we plan to do, since we're doing a split stay and have a full day planned on the credits we'll have left from the first reservation, is to check out and then immediately head over to the food court to pick up a random snack. That way we'll know if there is a problem before we even leave the resort and can get it straightened out ASAP.

Happened to us in May! We checked out of POP and went to the Studios, planning to use up 10 snack credits. Nope, zero showed up. A lovely CM at (?) Writers Corner (not sure of the exact name) got on the phone and spent a good half-hour getting our snack credits back! Of course, we used them all right there rather than having to do it all over again somewhere else.
The CMs there did not seem aware that this regularly happens; POP told her that they had cleared everything out as soon as we checked out. :confused3

It sounds to me like human error - someone who is supposed to do or not do something. Would it be worthwhile to mention the snacks/credits leftover at check-out? I can't remember, but our last two times, I think I simply received a printout of my charges and there was nothing else I had to do. I'm not even sure I stopped by the checkout desk. In June I had no problem using the last credits for late brunch at Chef Mickey's, getting meals to go at Contempo and using the final snacks at the fudge shop of CR.

This happened to me as well, luckily I was still at the hotel (in the gift shop) and marched over to the front desk where they straightened it out. I almost cried when it happened though...at the register with my 14 boxes of minnie cookies to take home.

This happen to us in Feb but it was our cs credits, lucky i had all my receipts and they fixed it.. I will watch it this time.

Yeah we had a whole bunch of stuff. Thank goodness for parents coming to the rescue haha. :D

Thank goodness I read this thread!!!!!!
On the day we check out of BWV we have CRT booked for breakfast, and Spirit of Aloha for dinner. That's 16 TS credits we'll be using that day, not to mention all the left over snack credits we'll have I'm sure!
Now I know to go and try to use a snack credit right after we check out and BEFORE we leave the Boardwalk.
Yikes.. I can't even imagine what a problem that could be:scared1:

This is why I LOVE the Dis:goodvibes

At check out you can also ask them to print out a copy of your remaining credits so that you have a printed copy with the time on it.
