I can't seem to find this anywhere. I am wondering if I find a better time for the same restaurant in the 24 hour window and change my ressie if I will get charged a fee for those restaurants that charge a cancellation fee? I have a few ressies that I have kept looking for a better time and a few charge the fee. We leave tomorrow (actually today!) so I wonder if I should even continue checking or leave it be.
Thanks! :)

Yes, you would be charged, as you are making a same day cancellation of the previous reservation. If you want to change, do it before the day of the reservation. See the sticky on the reservations board (this thread is being moved there)

One thing I would suggest if you do want to change a reservation on the same day is to either call WDW-DINE or, better yet, go to either Guest Relations in a park or a resort concierge and tell the agent what it is you want to do and that you'd rather not be charged for just changing your mind about what time to dine. They may be able to help you with the cancellation.

Thanks, I read that entire thread last night and still couldn't find my question. I know people were being charged when they wanted to change from like Cape May to 'Ohana. However, I meant if I have a reservation for 1:30 at Tusker House and a 12:00 open that day. I'd be keeping the same restaurant and not changing the place, just the time. I guess if I see a time, I'll just have to call the dining line and see.

You could get a different answer every time you call that number. Seriously. I think the odds of them charging you, regardless of what you are told by phone, are pretty high. I'd just go over it with the person at the podium when you arrive. Then keep a close eye on your card statement.

If you do the cancellation and rebooking online, the system doesn't care that you have just changed the time when you rebook. All it sees is that you cancelled your reservation on the same day.

Involving a human at the point that you make the cancellation might mean you can get the charge waived. I would want to have THEM do the cancellation, not do it myself online and then ask them to take the charge off. And even if you get someone to take the charge off, always check your credit card statements to make sure that you were not charged.
