Dining budget going through the roof

Gee, I really think I need to re-think my whole dining budget, or drop some of the TS places we were hoping to dine at this time around.

I had been thinking about:
Sci-Fi: Lunch
1900 Park Fare: Dinner
Crystal Palace: Breakfast (DD´s 12th birthday)
Tusker House: Breakfast
Liberty Tree Tavern: Thanksgiving dinner
Coral Reef: Dinner (DS´s 14th birthday)
Boma: Dinner (DH´s birthday)

If I keep this list I´ll be spending a fortune on food (4 of us pay as adults and 2 kids). Seems I even need to figure in holiday pricing for most if not all of our trip. How much extra should I budget for that?

We really enjoy our character meals, but wow, this is getting expensive...

What dates are you traveling?

If you're going to do so many TS meals, would it be possible to rebook your visit as a package with DDP?

The only reason I don't do DDP is I feel tied to a schedule of ADRs--and I don't like eating large meals that often! But in your case, it might save you some money!

Edited to add:

D'oh! Just reread your post. You'll be there at Thanksgiving! *LOL*

If you're staying on site, you might want to check into the cost of a package.

Thanks! We´ll be staying off-site Thanksgiving week and on-site the week after. This means that it doesn´t pay off to get the DDP since we would have to have seperate tickets for the first and second week, instead of our 10 day tix.

I dont think you need seperate tickets. Your 10 days will work and you can book the ddp for the days you are staying on site. This will only help with food costs whilst you stay onsite but maybe you could switch some of your plans around.

We are doing free dining this sept, we are staying for 4 days but got the 10day no expiration myw tickets so we could use them for the next trip.

I booked through Dreams Unlimited and our agent there told me I would have to purchase the tickets with the package and that I could not activate the tickets a week prior to staying on-site. She said the only way I could do the DDP was if I was willing to buy 1 day tickets with my room reservation. Considering that 1-day tickets are $400, it is too expensive.

I posted in your other thread, but if you make the onsite stay first its a moot point. You can buy the DP and activate your tickets the first week.

OR

Change those tickets to annual passes.

Thanks for your replies :)
Since we´re not sure we´ll return next year (although we might), I´m afraid to upgrade to AP´s since the price difference is considerable. It´s also kind of difficult to move our dates, since the resort is paid in full and we´ve already paid part of our villa cost.

Thanks for the ideas though, I really appreciate them.

Disney dates should be movable if you're outside of 45 days, but I understand you already have plans.

Honestly, I'd expect the TA to help you find a solution; good luck.

I guess I´m trying to find a way to do the impossible ;) I think I´ll have to come to terms with not being able to have my cake and eat it too.

Thanks for your help though :thumbsup2
