I am so used to booking our Disney Dining months in advance, so this is different for me!

We'll have 4 days in the parks - 2 days for each park. Since the parks close at either 6 or 7 at night, we figure we'll eat dinner outside of the park, but eat lunch each day in whatever park we are touring.

So, what are the top 2 lunch choices for US and IOA?

Is Mythos worth a trip? Are any of the table service places worth the time to eat there, or are we better off grabbing a quick bite at a counter service place?

Give me your top 2 choices for each park. I have one picky eater in the crew - he'll eat chicken nuggets, hot dogs, pizza or even salad - but won't stray too far from that.

check out the menu thread that damo created.
it is kept current, has pictures and some prices.

a poll was taken and you can read it there on the favorites of others.

www.universalorlando.com will give you info on the eateries.
www.citywalk.com same for eateries.....

i like boulangerie at the studios.
freshly made sandwiches, cheese cake factory desserts.

Louie's for pizza, meat ball sandwiches, salads.

IOA, i always hit confisco grille, blondies for fresh sandwiches and mythos.

i like the basics at mythos and not the foo foo stuff.
i generally will order two different appetizers and call it a meal.
(pizza and shrimp)

i know someone will come along and name a place that i adore.
i eat at so many of them during my vacations and find it hard to pick just a couple as you requested.

I seem to be the only one with a bad dining experience at Mythos- I found the steak way too salty, and my son's pizza was charred to oblivion. we both had to send our food back and eat somewhere else.

I really enjoyed the ribs and my kids enjoyed their burgers at margaritaville.

the food at The Kitchen in HRH was good.

We did not care at all for the food at Mythos. I do wonder why everyone says the food is so good. I was not impressed and will not go back. This is just my opinion. I would not recommend this for eating. We did enjoy Pastamore for a quick breakfast. Will try them this time for lunch where as you can get a slice of pizza, salad and a drink for $8.00.

Thanks for the opinions! I have been reading the menu thread all morning and I am getting hungry!

One more dining question - has anyone done the Cinematic dining package? Is it worth it? When does the show start? Do you eat right before the show and then watch it, or do you eat any time and then just have reserved spots for the show? With the parks closing so early in Jan, I wonder if this is worth it?

The dinner and a movie option is very popular. I don't think you are given a specific time for your movie....just tickets.

If memory serves that is correct .....one of my fav things to do also. :thumbsup2

For IOA we like Mythos ( TS) and Thunder Falls Terrace ( CS)
Studios we like Louies (Cs) We tried Lombards landing and it was meh

We can't go to IOA without eating at Mythos.

Last time I went to Mythos, I ordered parmesan fries which were a couple bucks more than regular fries. Kind of expected fries with some parmesan baked onto them. Got fries with the cheese from the green can shaken over them.

My friend had a beautiful shrimp salad but she said it basically had no flavor.

Haven't gone back there. I used to eat there whenever I went over to IOA.

We ate at Mythos twice in November, and it was EXCELLENT both times. I had the risotto of the day on one visit, and the chicken wrap the second time... both were really, really good. And we split the chocolate banana gooey cake for dessert. Yum!!! :thumbsup2

IOA- Mythos. I get the Risotto of the day every time and never been disappointed.
Confisco Grill

US- Boulangerie
Monsters Cafe

a few of my friends did this, the package that is. i took a pass for it as i thought it was overpriced.

they were given a ticket to show when they returned prior to the cinema show.
this allowed them to go to the back of the restaurant and sit on the landing area to view the show.

if you do this, return earlier than later.
if you want a table and chairs to use, go early to secure them.

when my friends went, all the chairs were taken as they returned about 10 minutes prior to the start of the event.

the view is nice there but, you will find other views just as good.

my favorite place is at the end of the lagoon which is near Mel's.
i had a full view of two of the screens and fireworks.

if you watch the show in NY section by the lagoon, you do miss out on some of the overhead fw due to the trees.

check the menu that is offered in this package.
you might or might not want that meal.
