Booking Disney for next month! :yay:

Magic Kingdom day we want a new restaurant, something other than the few in MK. I had an idea to take the monorail to another resort to eat at their restaurant.

We're looking at the following:
Grand Floridian Cafe
House of Blues
Kona Cafe
Maya Grill
Ohana's
Shutters at Old Port Royale
The Wave Restaurant

What are your opinions on some of these places? THANKS! :dance3:

I suggest you consider Kona Cafe and Ohana's first. They both get consistently good reviews.

Well my first opinion of them is that you can't monorail to get to many of them and a number of them are not convenient to being at the MK.

For what you said, you will have to stick with:
Kona
Grand Floridian Cafe
'Ohana
The Wave

'Ohana is a character meal for breakfast and doesn't serve lunch.

I've not been to the GFC, but of the others, I think the Wave is very good and we also enjoy Kona for breakfast. 'Ohana is very popular but my family doesn't enjoy it for dinner. The character breakfast is good.

If you want to use the monorail, your list is narrowed down to:

Grand Floridian Cafe
Kona Cafe
'Ohana
The Wave

The only resorts that the monorail goes to are GF, CR and Poly. If you're interested in 'Ohana, just be aware that they only serve breakfast and dinner.

For the others on your list:

Maya Grill - located at Coronado Springs resort. You can take a bus there from MK.

Shutters at Old Port Royale - located at Caribbean Beach resort. You can also get a bus from MK to CBR.

House of Blues - this one's not at a resort, it's in Downtown Disney West Side. There are no direct buses from theme parks to DTD, so your best bet would be to walk from MK to CR and then catch a DTD bus.

The monorail resort restaurants on your list are the closest to MK, so if you're looking to get back to touring MK after your meal, I'd choose one of those.

I have never eaten @ Ohana but I have tried & never could get in. So w/ that said I'd try Ohana if you can get in. If not Kona just b/c I love the Poly Resort. GFC is supposed to be good too. My parents loved The Wave.

As a PP said, the only ones that are on the monorail are The Wave at the CR, GF Cafe at the GF, and Kona and Ohana at Poly. Ohana is breakfast/dinner only; the rest serve B/L/D. All of them get good reviews. Dinner at Ohana is a particular favorite of ours.

Because they are so easily accessible from the MK, they tend to book up early - especially Ohana and Kona.

The other 3 restaurants you listed are quite far away and I would not try to fit any of them in on an MK day.
