Just over 40 days left to go and now bug eyed at reviewing DDP!! :scared1: Having never visited the Polynesian resort and unable to get in to Ohana for evening meal, can anyone share experience of using the counter service at Captain Cooks? If we time it right will we be able to walk on beach there and see the MK fireworks?

Anyone can eat at Captain Cooks at any time, just time your food with Wishes. I think Captain Cooks serves until quite late. Also factor in the Electric Light Parade on The lake.

You could try eating at Kona - food is very good :goodvibes

You can just get your food to go from Captain Cooks and take it on to the beach if you want.

We had one of the best meals of our trip last time at Kona. The terriyake steak is lovely as is the white chocolate cheesecake :thumbsup2 Not to mention the yummy bread and the wings :)

However, the others are right - there is no problem with you eating at Captain Cooks if you wish. Anybody can eat at any of the restaurants or counter service at any of the resorts.

Kona Cafe was a definite for this years list after a great meal last year. The Steak was one of the best I have had.

You just reminded me of the banana chocolate creme brulee I had - sooooo good.

Not long till I get another as it is on our list for May :cool1:

You can get a dole whip at captain cooks too!!!- 1 snack credit if on the DDP. Perfect pudding for sitting on the beach to watch the fireworks. :cool1:

We love Kona cafe too. Also, I ate at Captain Cooks twice on my last trip and IMHO it's in the top 3 CS on property. I tried the Aloha Pork sandwich which was delicious - really flavourful and also had the noodle bowl on another visit, which was lovely and fresh and made a nice light alternative to the rich and heavy meals you eat in WDW most of the time ;) I love eating at the Poly and if you do visit, try to get there for the torch lighting ceremony (around 6pm I think?), which is a short but fun free show.

Can't go wrong anywhere in the Poly, it just depends on your hunger level. But, Kona Cafe is the most underrated meal spot in WDW.

a lot of people actually prefer the Kona Cafe to Ohana because they don't like all the noise at ohana...

You could eat at Kona Cafe great quiet location with fantastic food (mouthwatering Mahi-Mahi and fresh vegetables mmmm.. lots of other choices too and the desserts are so good..) and then pop out or ... go Captain Cooks quick service but you could take the food to go and sit on the beach).... or Ohana which can be a little noisy and you do sometimes wait a while for your food and doesn't look entirely over that area but more back across to MK and the view of the castle. It's just a short walk out of the main building and down the footpath and you are there at " the beach" with it's lovely view and some great beach chairs. You could just hop over on the monorail and walk to the beach and grab a bite at Captain Cooks after the fireworks. One of the best locations we saw the fireworks from was the boat ride back from Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge just breathtaking views and we could hear the music too. So you see you still have options;)

Oh kona is great, we had the almond chicken as our wedding meal, we shall be going in oct when we go back

Captain cooks was great for cs - DH had an aloha pulled pork sandwich and I had an adult grilled cheese - dole whip for dessert. Some pics in my dining report - link in my signature.
