This would be our first time at Ohana; should we be concerned since our Daughter has a peanut allergy?
Thanks!

We did it back in August and DD5 was just fine. I think a few menu items have changed since then, but they'd probably need to bring you an alterative to the noodles they're currently offering since I think those have a peanut based sauce. When we went- the only things we had to omit were the breads and the peanut dipping sauce. DD5 is peanut and treenut allergic and she was just fine with our 'Ohana meal. Nine Dragons, Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining still scare me, but I feel safe at 'Ohana.

Whenever you make your ADRs, you should always ask for the peanut allergy to be listed as a note on your reservation. And when you get to the restaurant, you should tell your server the moment he/she arrives at your table, so you can find out what items are safe for her to eat.

How old is your daughter and does she have a contact allergy? The reason I ask is that Ohana hosts games at dinner time for kids. Since a peanut sauce is served to all tables, it is possible that there will be residue on the items or on the hands of other kids.

As for the meal in general, make sure to note you have a food allergy on your reservations. Your server will get the chef and they will go over what is safe for your daughter to eat. They will ask if you want the peanut sauce and the like brought to the table or not (some people still get it and just keep it away from the child... depends on the allergy I guess).

If she has a contact allergy, I would be sure to bring my own wipes and wipe down the table and chairs, before you sit in them, as Im certain even if the tables are wiped down between guests, they may not be as thorough as necessary since they do serve peanut dipping sauce, there is likely residue on the tables/chairs.

My mom has a peanut/tree nut allergy and she ate at 'Ohana's for the first time in January - it was her favorite meal. The only thing she could not eat was the bread, the peanut dipping sauce and the bread pudding (because it is made with the same bread that is served with dinner and this contains coconut which she is also allergic to). The chef came out and went over her restrictions and told her what was safe. They did have an alternative dessert that she loved and lists as her favorite dessert of the trip. It was a chocolate lava cake thing that looked fantastic! The chef did note that while the cake did not contain any nuts, it could potentially become cross-contaminated through the manufacturing/baking process (the usual spiel she got at every restaurant to cover their butts basically). It was not a problem for her but I do know of kids with severe enough of an allergy that this could be problematic. Enjoy your meal!
