Dining at Disney while offsite

We have a few ADR's, but wondered if anyone has done spur of the moment dinners at the resort hotels. I've read where you are no longer allowed to park at the resorts without an ADR. We love Big River Grill which doesn't take reservations. We also don't want to do that much preplanning especially for meals. If free parking is no longer allowed we can always choose restaurants offsite as well. TIA

We've done plenty of Disney Dining when staying offsite and have been able to park at the resort without issue each time. We just let the parking attendant know we are there to dine and they have been always very welcoming....

That said, if it was a crazy busy time and we tried parking at Contemporary, Polynesian or Grand Floridian, we'd probably be out of luck.
