Oh, you're kidding? I wish you had your Goofy's PS earlier that morning! Well, we are checking into PPH on the 2nd (a change from the original plan of arirving on the 3rd), sometime in late afternoon/early evening, I imagine. We tend to go to Goofy's early in the morning and chow down on breakfast, so I think we will be long out of there by the time you arrive! The only thing I could see changing that plan would be if we decided to go into the park(s) first and then come back to Goofy's late morning, but usually, our pattern tends to be, eat a big breakfast early and stay in the parks for several hours, then come back to the hotel late afternoon to rest for a couple of hours, then back out into the parks (IF I can convince my friend to head back out!). Last year, when my friend and I went back to PPH to rest and meet up with another friend to eat, my first friend pooped out and didn't want to make the trek back to DL from the PPH. It was too far for her to deal with the walk back. When we stayed at GCH in December, she was rarin' to go and had no problem going back into the park at night, because everything was closer and less of a walk:mad:

The 3 of us (2 adults and an 11 year old) did ESPN Zone for dinner one night during Spring Break 2008. We were actually there for opening day of baseball season.

We felt totally out of place there. We were so excited about going there too. It was a real let down. :confused3

That being said, the food was large portions and good.

The game room upstairs was just O.K., in our opinion.

We are going for Spring Break 2009, so we have not discussed meal plans much, as we have 195 days to go until our trip. But we will not be going back to ESPN Zone.

Really? I am glad you posted because I wanted some feedback on ESPN Zone before I made a PS for it. So you are saying that the food is not the reason to NOT go back to ESPN - the food is good and the portions are large - but just the atmosphere you were not comfortable with? Or what exactly made you feel out of place? I know that each person has different experiences, but seeing that I have so many other restaurants that I am debating on and trying to fit into the schedule, since I have not tried that one yet, if I get a bad review of it, I can easily take it off the list. I don't need to go there that badly and risk possibly having a bad time when we are only at DLR for a short trip anyway. I can always postpone going to ESPN until another, slightly longer, trip. I thought the food looked pretty good from what I could see on the menu, but we don't want to feel out of place and awkward, that is for sure!

we had talked about espn and hob but we decied agenst both becosue we dont think ited be good for my family hob he might not like if its to loud or not his type music lol
and espn well tho i like cowboys i dont think i could deal with other sports or teams lol i sware im trying to watch more football but when i see cowboys on i cant turn it off lol

Have fun and your plans look grate

We ate in the area where the TV's are - showing every baseball game that was on.

Maybe that was part of the problem? I don't know.

The atmosphere was loud. People drinking and being obnoxious.

We just felt out of place.

DH and I don't drink. And there were some really obnoxious people. Did I mention obnoxious people (I believe they were drunk).

Maybe if we ate in the other area - the area that is not with all of the tv's and more of a family-type atmosphere it would have been better.

I was amused at the tv's in the bathroom stalls. I thought that was kind of neat.
:)

I had :
BBQ Breast of Chicken
Marinated, charbroiled and basted with barbecue sauce, served with mashed potatoes topped with bacon, cheddar cheese and chives, and crispy onion straws.

DH had :
Baby Back Ribs
A full slab of ribs slow roasted and basted with barbecue sauce, served with french fries.

DS had some sort of salad with wheat thins and something else. I can't find it on the menu.

Our meals were all awesome! If we decide to eat there again, we would get the food "to go" and eat at DTD.

Hi Sherry !!

he Pluses for Carnation Cafe is you'll be able to see the parade and it will be less expensed. The Pluses for the Blue Bayou is the environment and the food, although it will be more expensive. It kind of depends on what you're aiming for for that night.

Alright I like the idea of going to Carnation Cafe during parade time.... My question is can you see the parade no matter where you are sitting?

That actually sounds like a good idea - get it to go, IF they allow that. Heck, we could get it to go and take it back to our hotel. That BBQ chicken sounds out of this world. I thought their menu sounded really tasty - like better than some of the other menus I have seen at DLR, but loud, drunk people acting up while I am trying to spend quality time with friends is not for me. I guess it makes sense, though - there are probably a lot of men who go to DLR with their families and hate it, or can only stand it in small doses. They probably look for any kind of 'manly' place they can find, and then settle in at ESPN Zone and start chugging! I am not really a drinker, either, so I have little patience for obnoxious drunks, especially at Disneyland! You know, I would expect that type of crowd in other places and have certainly been in many places in my life - clubs and parties - where that happens, and it comes with the territory, but I don't want to deal with it at DLR!

Alright I like the idea of going to Carnation Cafe during parade time.... My question is can you see the parade no matter where you are sitting?

We happened to have our dessert meal at Carnation last December during parade time, and we were not seating by the railing, or next to Main Street. We were way in the back, on the side, of the restaurant. My friend took the seat that was facing Main Street so she could sort of see little glimpses of what was happening, but I had my back to it. And there were people and other obstructions in our way. So, the answer is no, you can't see the parade WELL from anywhere, but you may be able to see it SORT OF, if you look past various shrubs or fixtures or heads or whatever was blocking us!!! Even sitting right next to Main Street seems like it would lend itself to many folks standing in your way, blocking your view, I think.

Thanks, Jade! Your plan also looks great, and I hope you guys have a really great time - I know you will value every second you are there and make the most of it!

hehe... I was thinking about doing an early bfast but I didn't want to miss the 8am opening. So I figure I do a hardcore 3hr in the morning and then go back to eat lunch and hit the park again... :)
Maybe we'll catch up sometime in the park... Can you believe less than 3 more weeks to go?!?!??! :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

I can't believe it is just a bit over 2 weeks and then it's Halloween time at DLR!! We used to try to get into the park at opening time - and truthfully, I would prefer to get in at opening to get on more rides than we usually do. I can't seem to convince other people to get up extra early. I was trying for a Goofy's breakfast in the 7:00 a.m. hour last year, and people showed up at 8:00 a.m. and then we ate and didn't get into the park until probably 9:30 or so. I guess it is all right, since we don't go on as many rides as we used to in our younger years, back in the '80s and such, but I think we could get on more rides if we got there before the crowds piled in. In the old days, we would get there at opening and stay until closing. Now, I realize my body is older and I get tired and my friends don't have the same stamina anymore either, but we can always get a rest break during the day! Oh well, I am just happy to be going. it came close to my having to cancel because of something that came up, but I didn't cancel and everything is okay now!

Oh, and I plan on dragging whoever is with me over to DCA at opening time on both the 3rd and the 4th to get on TSMM. We will probably use the GCH entrance and go in that way, so if you decide to do the same thing, we may end up standing in the same line for the ride at the same time!
